Gremi Borscht Fest is not just a gastronomic festival, but a powerful charitable initiative that unites Ukrainians and Poles for a common goal — to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In 2025, the festivals continued their mission: delicious borscht, varenyky, pancakes, and Ukrainian music became tools for supporting our military.

Borscht, varenyky, and donuts: how Poland is raising millions for the Ukrainian military

The most recent event took place on June 8 in Katowice and became a real record-breaker despite the rainy weather. Over the course of the day, the festival was visited by more than 9,000 guests, who tasted 700 liters of borscht, 3,900 varenyky, and 1,000 pancakes, and most importantly, raised over 220,000 zlotys (over 2.4 million hryvnias) for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“This was an absolute record for the number of guests at a borscht festival in the rain. We are not isolating ourselves, but opening up space for dialogue and mutual understanding. Through culture and taste, we are telling people about what Ukraine is fighting for today,” said Galina Kirichenko, founder of the Gremi Foundation.

This is the third festival in this year's cycle. The previous two, in Łódź and Bydgoszcz, raised another 3.6 million hryvnias and attracted about 15,000 guests. With the funds raised, the foundation has already purchased thermal imagers, drones, and electronic warfare equipment for the Ukrainian military.

Gremi Borsch Fest has already become a tradition. In 2024, the fund held 10 festivals, which were attended by 68,500 guests and raised over PLN 1.3 million (almost UAH 15 million) for drones, electronic warfare equipment, and medicine for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In total, 24 festivals have been organized since 2022, raising over PLN 1.8 million (over UAH 20 million) in charitable donations.

The format of the events is a street festival with food courts, creative workshops, children's areas, and concerts by Ukrainian stars performing on a charitable basis.

Reference

Gremi Foundation is a charitable initiative of Gremi Personal, an international employment company founded by Yevgen Kirichenko, a German-Polish businessman of Ukrainian origin. The company is one of the top three recruitment agencies in Poland and has been actively supporting Ukraine since the start of the full-scale invasion.

Gremi Borsch Fest is an example of how Ukrainian cuisine, culture, and solidarity can become a real force for support.
