The 2025 beach season in Odesa is an important step in restoring the city's tourism potential. Despite the challenges, Odesa continues to attract tourists, offering them not only sunny beaches but also the unique atmosphere of the Black Sea. Find out which beaches you can visit in the Odesa region and what measures have been implemented for your safety
Odessa is one of the most popular beach destinations in Ukraine. Despite all the challenges of recent years, every season the city attracts thousands of tourists who dream of relaxing on the Black Sea coast.
Safety during the beach season in Odessa
Tourist safety is one of the most pressing issues in organising the beach season. In 2025, the situation remains challenging, and the Odessa authorities are doing everything possible to minimise the risks to holidaymakers. In particular, regular checks are carried out on beach areas for mines and other dangerous objects that people may encounter.
Special teams consisting of representatives of the State Emergency Service and municipal services have been set up for this purpose to thoroughly inspect the coastline. As Oleg Kipper, head of the Odessa Regional State Administration, noted, one of the main tasks is to ensure safety and warn tourists about places that may be dangerous for recreation.
Earlier, we told you how to get from Zhytomyr to Odesa by train.
Safety for tourists during martial law
Oleg Kipper also mentioned three cases when beaches will be closed (two of them are related to martial law):
– air raid alert;
– suspected bomb threat (presence of suspicious objects);
– storm above 2 points.

Foreigners arriving in Ukraine must purchase insurance. However, when choosing between a standard policy and a policy covering military risks, it is worth considering the second option. As the economic engine of southern Ukraine, Odesa is often the target of rocket attacks and air strikes. The only way to protect yourself and your loved ones is with a policy that covers military risks. You can purchase one in just a few clicks on the Visit Ukraine portal.
Which beaches are open in 2025?
Currently, there are 29 beach areas open to visitors in the Odesa region, but additional locations may be opened after the necessary checks.
