Beach season 2025 in Ukraine: where to relax by the sea?

This year's beach season promises to be unforgettable. Odessa, in particular, is already preparing to welcome tourists, taking into account safety and infrastructure issues. However, not all regions will be ready to open their official beaches. Find out more about the 2025 beach season in Ukraine
Summer holidays at the seaside are one of the greatest temptations for Ukrainians. However, due to the state of war and other factors, the situation with the 2025 beach season has changed somewhat.
Where can you go to enjoy a holiday by the water, and how can you organise your stay at Ukrainian resorts? We will tell you more in this article.
Odessa and the Odessa region: preparations for the opening of the beach season
Odessa is traditionally one of the most popular resorts in Ukraine, and 2025 will be no exception. Preparations for the opening of the beach season began in the Odessa region in mid-spring. In 2024, the season started on 8 June, and it is expected that this year the beaches will be open in early June, depending on the security situation.
The opening of beaches in Odessa depends on several factors: the seabed, which will be checked for mines and other hazards, the state of the infrastructure, and the availability of shelters. All this is aimed at ensuring the safety of tourists. In 2025, it is planned to open up to 48 beaches, which is significantly more than in the previous year.
Beach season 2025: the situation in other regions of Ukraine
The resumption of the beach season in Ukraine in 2025 depends on the situation in different regions. In Koblevo, for example, hotels are open, but the sea is closed due to security restrictions. However, the open estuary, which is accessible, offers holidaymakers an alternative for relaxation by the water.
Hotels are also opening in Zatoka and Karolino-Buhaz, and the season is planned. The beaches are accessible for recreation, but it is important to remember that the mine hazard remains a real threat. Therefore, before travelling, you should carefully study the security situation and the restrictions in force in these areas.
As for the Kharkiv and Chernihiv regions, access to beach recreation will be restricted in 2025. Official beaches remain closed due to the dangers associated with hostilities and the general security situation. Local residents may use unofficial recreation areas if permitted.
Kyiv will also not open the beach season in 2025. Residents of the capital can only relax independently near water bodies, without official recreational infrastructure.
Which Ukrainian beaches are safe for swimming?
Before going on vacation, it is important to consider not only the infrastructure of the beaches, but also the condition of the water. Disease control and prevention centers in Ukraine regularly monitor recreational areas. In particular, the water meets sanitary standards in the following regions:

However, the official health resort season in the region has not yet opened.
