The most beautiful viewpoints in the Carpathians: where to admire the views?

The most spectacular panoramic venues in the Carpathians are waiting for you this spring. We have collected locations that offer perfect angles for photos, silence and inspiration. Find out which places will give you maximum emotions
Spring is the best time to see the Carpathians from above: there is still snow on the ridges, but the valleys are already full of greenery, and there are significantly fewer tourists than in summer. We publish a selection of both classic and new viewpoints. All sites can easily fit into a weekend and are suitable for different levels of fitness.
At this time of year, the Carpathian weather changes almost every hour in spring, creating a ‘film’ of clouds, fogs and peaks shining with light. Many resorts offer off-season discounts, and the lifts operate in sightseeing mode without queues.
Top viewpoints in the Carpathians
Polyanytsia & panoramic ski lifts of Bukovel
▪️ The terrace near the top station of the chairlift No. 1 is the fastest way to get above the Khomyak-Sinyak massif: five minutes of ascent and a 360° view of the surrounding peaks.
▪️ R2 observation lift: a family option with wide seats and a smooth ride; you can see Lake Molodosti from below and all the slopes of the resort from above.
▪️ Extreme add-on: Bike Zip - a bike on a rope over water; while pedalling, you can enjoy a rare view of the centre of Bukovel without the crowds of tourists.
Rybnyk - a bridge over the Stryi
In the village of Rybnyk, there is a wooden platform next to the longest pedestrian bridge in Lviv region; from here you can see the winding paths of Stryi, meanders and forested ridges of the Beskydy. The road is dirt, suitable for cars with a ground clearance of 160 mm+.
Yavirnyk-Horgan: panorama of four ridges
From the top (1467 m), you can see Sinyak, Dovbushanka, Chornohora and Hoverla at the same time. The trail is rocky (‘living stones’), so comfortable trekking boots are a must; you usually start from the souvenir market in Yaremche (15 km in both directions).
You can book a trip to Yavirnyk on our portal.
Mount Mikhalkiv, Kosiv
The highest point of the Kosiv region has a covered terrace deck - take a thermos and stay for a couple of hours: from here you can see the natural ‘border’ of Galicia and Bukovyna. Updated route markings make the climb (up to 3 hours) comfortable even for beginners.
Lake Synevyr: the Sea Eye tower
A new wooden tower on the southern shore offers a view of the legendary ‘eye’ of the lake and the cedar belt around it; after viewing it, you can visit the brown bear rehabilitation centre (extra charge).

Vysoky Verkh (Zakhar Berkut)
The chairlift from Volosyanka takes you to the crest of the Skole Beskids in 25 minutes. In the morning, you can often see a ‘sea of clouds’ from the platform, and in the evening - sunsets over the Slavske ranges.
Hemba and Borzhava Polonyna
In spring, the slope of Hemba is covered with crocuses, which are hunted by naturalist photographers. The laziest route is the chairlift from Pylypets; more sporty is the traverse from Temnatyk along the Borzhava ridge.
Makovytsia (Yaremche)
An easy peak (986 m) with a view of the Prut valley and the Yaremche waterfall cascade. Suitable for day hikes: ascent ≈ 1.5 hours, descent through a beech forest.
Dovbush Rocks
In addition to the mystical stone forms, there is a natural terrace from where you can clearly see the Yaremche hollow; some tour routes include rock climbing.
You can book a tour along Dovbush's trails and to Makovitsa Mount on Visit Ukraine at a favourable price.
