The Dutch government has decided to extend the scheme of temporary exemption from vehicle tax (MRB) and tax on cars and motorcycles (BPM) for Ukrainian refugees until March 4, 2025. 

This is an important step that allows Ukrainians who have been forced to leave their homes to save additional funds during their stay in the Netherlands.

What are the conditions for tax exemption?

To take advantage of this opportunity, you must meet the following criteria:

• The car must be registered in Ukraine.

• The immigrant must enter the Netherlands with this car.

How to take advantage of this opportunity?

If you are already registered in the temporary tax exemption scheme, you do not need to take any additional actions. The exemption will be automatically extended until the specified date.

If you are not yet registered in this scheme, you need to send a letter with the following information to the Dutch tax authorities:

• Name

• Address in Ukraine

• BSN (social security number)

• Address of residence in the Netherlands

• Car license plate number

Important! The letter must be sent to the address:

• Tax Authorities

• CAP/Auto, Exemption authorization team

• PO Box 90121, 4800 RA Breda

It is emphasized that this decision will help reduce the financial burden on IDPs, allowing them to better adapt to life in a new country.

This initiative demonstrates the solidarity and support of the Dutch government, which is an important element in ensuring the well-being of Ukrainian refugees.
