Chernivtsi is the cultural and educational center of Ukraine and the architectural pearl of Bukovyna. The first written mention of Chernivtsi dates back to 1408. The city is 40 km from the Romanian border and boasts exquisite sights. Chernivtsi is also known as "Ukrainian Venice" or "little Paris". Every year, thousands of tourists from different parts of Ukraine and the world go to see local landscapes.

The question often arises before every traveler - where to stay in Chernivtsi. Given the large number of tourist facilities and good conditions for recreation and accommodation, it is difficult to choose the best area.

In which district of Chernivtsi should a tourist rent an apartment? Let's talk further.

Central district

The center of Chernivtsi is represented by the Central Square, formerly the Market Square or the Ring Square, which has been the heart of the city for almost two centuries. The square is really central - almost all the main streets of the city radiate from it like rays: Main, Ruska, Universitetska, I. Franka, O. Kobylyanska and others. Living in this area means being close to all the central squares, where the main attractions of the city are located and various cultural events are held.

- What to see? City Hall, Art Museum, Ship House, monument to Taras Shevchenko and Chernivtsi Regional Philharmonic.

- Where to stay? Czernowitz Deluxe Apartments, Apart hotel on Franka and AllureInn Hotel and Spa.

Olga Kobylyanska Street

Olga Kobylyanska Street is perhaps the most beautiful street in the city, where many interesting restaurants, coffee shops, beauty salons, etc. are concentrated. There is a legend that the street was once so well maintained that it was swept only with bouquets of roses, the cobblestones were washed with soap every day, and visitors with dirty shoes were not allowed in at all. Today it is the main pedestrian street of the city and its business card. Hotels here are chosen by tourists who want to experience the full flavor of Chernivtsi.

- What to see? Drama Theater named after O. Kobylyanska, pharmacy-museum.

- Where to stay? Yard Hostel & Coffee, Pelican Guest House & Hostel and Apart Boutique on Kobylyanska.

The area of the Central Park and the Botanical Garden

The Botanical Garden of Chernivtsi National University is one of the oldest botanical institutions of Ukraine. It was founded in 1877, at the time when Bukovina was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire as a crown duchy. The Botanical Garden of the Chernivtsi National University is a real museum of living plants. The Central Park of Culture and Recreation named after Taras Shevchenko is also located nearby. On its territory there is a sculpture of the Heart of Love, a fountain, a summer theater and an attraction complex.

Tourists who travel with families and those who like to live close to nature usually stay in this area. Considering the close location to the central part of Chernivtsi and the developed transport infrastructure, it will be quite convenient to get to the main attractions.

- Where to stay? Grand Royal, Hotel "Bukovyna" and Panskiy Dvir.

Railway station area

In the area of the railway station, renting a room in a hotel, hostel or apartment will be cheaper than in the central area. The main reason for the low cost is the distance from the historical center - 10-15 minutes by public transport.

However, the area also has certain advantages, in particular the proximity to the railway station, especially for those who stop in the city in transit. Also, here you can find a large selection of well-renovated housing at affordable prices. There is a market and many shops nearby. It is also quite close to Chernivtsi National University.

- What to see? Chernivtsi tram and Holy Mary Square (Turkish Well Square).

- Where to stay? U Pottera Hostel, George Palace and Apart Club Tolstogo.

Sadhora

Sadhora is a Jewish town in the suburbs of Chernivtsi. Previously, it was a separate village, now it is part of the city. Sadgora owes its origin to the mint built at the expense of the German-Polish baron and financier Peter-Nikolaus Hartenberg. In 1801, the settlement received the status of an important trading town. Sadgora is rich in historical sights and tourist attractions. Also, taking into account the distance from the central part of Chernivtsi, tourists will be able to enjoy the local nature here.

- What to see? The building of the mint, the Synagogue, the old buildings around the market square, the Church of St. Michael the Archangel, the Greek-Catholic Holy Intercession Church.

- Where to stay? Hotel Baronskyi Dvir.
