Low-cost airline Wizz Air has announced a major expansion of its network in Central and Eastern Europe. The airline is launching 33 new routes from airports in Romania, Slovakia, and Bulgaria. This will significantly increase the number of affordable flight options from Ukraine's neighboring countries.

15 new flights from Romania

The biggest changes will take place in Romania, where Wizz Air has eight bases. The company is adding 15 destinations:

Bucharest – Berlin, Prague, Bordeaux;

Cluj-Napoca – Marrakesh, Stockholm;

Iasi – Copenhagen, Prague, Valencia;

Brasov – Milan, Rome.

This opens up even more options for passengers from border regions to travel around Europe.

New base in Slovakia and 12 destinations from Bratislava

Wizz Air is opening a new operating base in Bratislava with two aircraft. Starting in November–December 2025, 12 new flights will depart from here:

Spain: Barcelona, Malaga;

Greece: Athens;

Norway: Oslo;

Switzerland: Basel;

Serbia: Niš;

Italy: Lamezia Terme, Naples, Palermo, and others.

This makes the Slovak capital even more attractive for travelers from Ukraine.

Six new routes from Sofia

From October 2025 and March 2026, Wizz Air will launch six more flights from the Bulgarian capital. Passengers will be able to travel to:

Chisinau,

Prague,

Turin,

Marrakesh,

Lamezia Terme,

Palma de Mallorca.

Development strategy

The new route network confirms the airline's strategic focus on Central and Eastern Europe. This is where Wizz Air is redirecting its resources after closing its base in Abu Dhabi, focusing on markets with the highest demand for affordable air travel.
