Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, about 20,000 foreign volunteers have joined the Armed Forces. Many of them came from all over the world to support Ukraine in its fight for freedom. To make the enlistment process more convenient and efficient, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has decided to simplify the procedure for attracting foreigners to the Ukrainian army.

What changes have been adopted?

According to the information released by the government's representative in the Verkhovna Rada, Taras Melnychuk, the government has adopted amendments to several key documents:

Regulations on territorial recruitment and social support centers (TSCs)

Procedure for public procurement during martial law

Regulations on the work of recruitment centers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Regulations on the Center for Recruiting Foreigners and Stateless Persons

These changes expand the powers of recruitment centers in terms of organizing the transportation of candidates for service from abroad to Ukraine. This means that it will be easier for foreign volunteers to physically get to Ukraine and join the Armed Forces.

Living conditions and meals

In addition to logistics, the process of providing foreigners with temporary accommodation and meals has been simplified. These services can now be provided without using the electronic public procurement system, which significantly speeds up bureaucratic procedures.

What is the Foreigners Recruitment Center?

The Center for Recruitment of Foreigners and Stateless Persons is a specialized state body that organizes the recruitment of foreigners into the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard and the State Special Transport Service. It is through this center that most procedures for those who do not have Ukrainian citizenship but wish to serve under a contract are carried out.
