Restrictions on cash withdrawals from ATMs have become a new feature of banking practice in Ukraine. This became relevant after the outbreak of a full-scale war in the country to avoid a shortage of cash at ATMs.

In particular, each bank sets its own limits on the amount that can be withdrawn.

We will tell you what restrictions on cash withdrawals are currently in place at ATMs in Ukraine, as well as where you can withdraw funds, in the article.

Cash withdrawal limit: how much can you withdraw from an ATM?

● At PrivatBank, the cash withdrawal limit is UAH 20,000 at a time, and the next transaction can be made only after three hours.

● At Oschadbank ATMs, you can withdraw up to UAH 100,000 per day. The number of transactions is not limited, but only 25,000 can be withdrawn at a time, provided that the next withdrawal is made no earlier than 3 hours later.

● Ukreximbank offers a withdrawal limit of UAH 25,000 per transaction and UAH 100,000 per day.

● Raiffeisen Bank has a cash withdrawal limit of UAH 20,000 per day;
● Ukrgasbank - UAH 5,000 per transaction. The daily limit is UAH 20,000.

● Tascombank - UAH 10,000 per day.

● Sens Bank - up to UAH 50,000 per day via ATM.

● PUMB - up to UAH 20,000 per day.

● Pivdenny Bank - UAH 10,000 per day. The daily limit is UAH 20,000.

● Kredobank - UAH 10,000 at a time. The next time you can withdraw cash from an ATM is after 2 hours. 30 min.

How much cash can be withdrawn outside of ATMs: other ways

Of course, there are other ways to withdraw cash besides ATMs, such as bank cash desks and bank branches. There may be restrictions here as well. It is worth noting that these restrictions may vary depending on the policy of each particular bank and economic conditions.

In addition to ATMs, cash can also be withdrawn from various shops, petrol stations and pharmacies. For example, in ATB-Market, Silpo, Fora, Varus, Fozzy, Lotok, Trash! and Tochka, you can withdraw up to UAH 6,000. In the Sim23 and EVA chains, this amount is UAH 2000, and in the NOVUS and Roshen chains, it is UAH 500.

OKKO and WOG petrol stations also offer cash withdrawals of up to UAH 6,000, Ukrnafta petrol stations - up to UAH 5,000, and BRSM-Nafta petrol stations - UAH 500.

Some pharmacies also provide cash withdrawal services, for example, at Bila Romashka, Apteka ANC, Apteka 911, and MedService, you can withdraw up to UAH 6,000. Additionally, cash can be withdrawn at Dobroho Dnia Pharmacy, Kopiyka Pharmacy, and Wholesale Prices Pharmacy, but the amounts are not specified.

Restrictions on card-to-card transfers

Starting from 1 October 2024, the National Bank of Ukraine introduced temporary restrictions on the amount of card-to-card transfers by individuals. These measures were introduced to prevent the payment infrastructure from being used for illegal purposes.

From now on, the maximum amount that can be transferred from one card to another within a month is UAH 150,000. This restriction applies to all outgoing transfers from all customer accounts opened with the same bank.

It is worth noting that the restriction will be in effect temporarily, for six months - until 31 March 2025.

Please note! The restrictions do not apply to transfers using IBAN details. The NBU also assured that it will not affect the activities of volunteers.

P2P transfers can only be sent to Visa/MasterCard. At the moment, the transfer is available only from monobank currency card up to UAH 100,000 per month in equivalent (at the NBU exchange rate). The same limit includes transfers through third-party resources and the purchase of quasi-cash currency from currency cards.

If the amount of the P2P transfer exceeds UAH 30,000, the client will be asked to enter the recipient's name and surname to send the transfer.

Transfers abroad via SWIFT are subject to the National Bank of Ukraine's limit on investments abroad, with the amount of transactions limited to no more than EUR 200,000 per calendar year.

How do I withdraw funds from foreign cards in Ukraine?

First of all, it is important to know that most foreign cards, such as Visa or Mastercard, are widely accepted in Ukraine.

Also, some of the banks that you will see in Ukraine are part of well-known regional or global brands that operate throughout the country. If you already use one of these banks, your account may allow you to withdraw funds at low or no cost if you use their ATMs. Otherwise, your local bank or ATM will likely charge you a fee.
