Ukrainians enjoying temporary protection in the Czech Republic will be able to extend their stay for another year, until 2025. However, there is a new requirement for this process, according to proukrainu.blesk.cz.
Here's what you need to do to extend your legal stay in the country.
Temporary protection for refugees in the Czech Republic: how to extend it
According to the information released by the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic, a new stage of the procedure for extending a temporary protection visa for Ukrainian refugees in 2024 has been specified. After the electronic registration for the extension of temporary protection, persons need to visit the office of the Ministry of the Interior, where they will receive a new visa sticker.
During the visit, it is mandatory to submit a document on the availability of housing on a form with the certified signature of the owner. If a person lives in state humanitarian housing, no proof of residence is required.
However, officially certified signatures are required to extend temporary protection. If a person submits the "potvrzeni o zajisténi ubytování" form, it is necessary to have a certified signature of the owner or an authorized person.
For lease or sublease agreements, a certified signature is not required, but the agreement must be signed by both parties.
For accommodation assistance, individuals and legal entities should download the necessary forms on the information portal for foreigners.

How to notarize a signature or a copy of a document?
The two main types of certification you may encounter are:
• Officially certified signature (legalization): This process confirms that a person has personally signed a document in front of an appropriate authorized person or has recognized their signature on the document as their own. Legalization is a form of authentication of the signature and the document.
• An officially certified copy (otomatse): This process confirms the correspondence between the submitted copy and the original document. The notarization does not authenticate the signature, but only ensures that the copy matches the original.
Notarization can usually be performed at a post office or some municipal offices. However, it is important to keep in mind that only documents written in Czech or Slovak can be certified. When legalizing a document, you must have your identity card with you.
