Who needs insurance to enter Thailand?

In general, medical insurance is recommended for anyone planning to visit Thailand. However, it is mandatory for certain categories of visitors:

– Tourists. For short trips, tourists often take out insurance voluntarily. Although insurance is not always officially required for a tourist visa, in practice it is highly desirable, especially due to the high cost of medical services in Thailand.

– Those who are travelling for work or on long-term visas. For employees, volunteers, entrepreneurs and other categories planning to stay in the country for more than 90 days, insurance is usually a prerequisite for obtaining a visa.

Basic requirements:

– Coverage of medical expenses, including COVID-19 (especially relevant after the pandemic).
