Ukraine and France have signed an important agreement that will significantly simplify life for Ukrainians living in France. The procedure for exchanging Ukrainian driving licences for French ones will now be simpler and faster.

The agreement was reached during a meeting between Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and his French counterpart François Bayrou in Paris. As Shmyhal noted, the parties signed several key documents, including an agreement on simplified legalisation of driving licences and a programme to support Ukraine on its path to joining the European Union.

What does simplified exchange mean?

It means that Ukrainians who are temporarily or permanently residing in France will be able to exchange their valid Ukrainian licences for French ones without having to take additional exams, as was previously the case. This is especially important for those who need to drive for work, study or everyday life.

This initiative facilitates the integration of Ukrainians into French society and recognises the professional and civil rights of those who were forced to leave their homeland because of the war.

Cooperation on the road to the EU

In addition, Ukraine and France have agreed to expand cooperation between government agencies. The programme signed between the secretariats of the two countries provides for the exchange of experience, expert support and information sharing in the process of Ukraine's European integration.

This is another step towards Ukraine's full membership in the European Union and the strengthening of international support.
