April in Ukraine is the time when cities turn into living watercolors: parks, squares, and streets are covered with pink cherry blossoms. Although this year the flowering started later due to the cold snap, the whole country will soon be filled with spring colors again.

🌸 Kyiv


Sakura trees adorn the Fomin and Hryshko botanical gardens. There are also dozens of green areas in every district of the capital: from Kyoto Park to the squares on Landscape Alley, Volodymyrska Hill, and Natalka Park in Obolon.


According to the Kyiv City State Administration, sakura trees were planted in parks and squares across the capital:

The largest concentration of sakura trees is in the Pope John Paul II Park. Japanese cherries also grow there:

on Mytna Square;

in the courtyard of the Lviv University of Trade and Economics (10 Tugan-Baranovskoho St.);

near the Museum of Folk Architecture and Rural Life named after Kly. Sheptytsky Museum of Folk Architecture and Life;

in the Bohdan Khmelnytsky Park of Culture;

at 27 Tyutyunnykiv Street;

on Heroyiv Maidanu Street;

at the intersection of Studentska and Zelena streets (near the Vodokanal);

on Museum Square (near the Dominican Cathedral).

🌸 Uzhhorod


This is the real sakura capital of Ukraine. The city has even created an interactive map of flowering trees. Sakura Fest is held here every year.

The city has more than 6 km of sakura streets! The longest alley is on Pryashivska street, and the oldest tree is almost 100 years old.

on Uzhhorodska street (near Mukachevo State University);

on Jan Amos Komensky street.


🌸 Odesa


The Odesa Botanical Garden has 150 sakura trees, some of which are over 80 years old. The following streets are also decorated with trees:

on Teatralna Square (near the Opera House);

in the Victory Arboretum;

in Shevchenko Park;

in Mark Twain Park;

A whole alley of sakura trees is blooming in Central Park. Other locations:

🌸 Dnipro


Japanese cherries have been grown in the city since 2000. The flowering can be seen


in the botanical garden of the Dnipro National University;

in the Sakura Garden on Academician Lazaryan Street;

on the territory of the University of Railway Transport;

on Petra Kalnyshevskoho Ave;

on Solnechna Naberezhna Street;

on the alley near the monument to Yangel (on the street of the same name);

in Novokodatskyi Park;

in the Heroes' Square near Polya Avenue.


🌸 Cherkasy


The oldest tree is on Medychna Street. Sakura trees are still in bloom:


in the arboretum of the Central Forestry Office;

in the Valley of Roses;

in the Sosnovyi Bor park;

in the children's park.


🌸 Khmelnytskyi


The botanical garden of Khmelnytskyi National University has about 20 species of sakura. There are also flowering trees in Shevchenko Square and Chekman Park.

Sakura trees decorate Teatralna Square, Independence Square, Shevchenko Park and the territory of the city hospital.


🌸 Lutsk


In the city, you can see the flowering:

on the territory of Sumy Agrarian University;

in the park “Fairy Tale”;

on Soborna Street (on the territory of the Transfiguration Cathedral).


More than 30 sakuras are currently growing near the Agrarian University, and more than 20 Japanese cherries in the Kazka Park.

The center of flowering is Shevchenko Park. Japanese cherries also grow on Hrushevskoho, Volodymyr Velykyi and Konovalets streets.

More than 100 sakura trees adorn the streets of the city. The most popular locations:
