Ukrainian business in Poland

Number of registered companies and individual entrepreneurs

77,700 individual entrepreneurs from Ukraine registered in Poland as of 24 February 2022. The share of Ukrainian sole proprietorships is 9% of all new businesses established in the country during the same period.

In addition, 11,300 companies with Ukrainian capital were established during this time.

Main areas of activity

According to the Polish Economic Institute, the most popular areas for Ukrainian entrepreneurs in Poland are:

▪️ Information and communications - 18%.

▪️ Other services - 13%. In the Other Services sector, 82% of companies provide hairdressing and beauty services.

Analysts note that the growth in the number of Ukrainian businesses in Poland reflects not only the high adaptability of Ukrainians, but also structural changes in the labour market. Many people who used to be employees are becoming self-employed or starting their own businesses. Between 2022 and 2024, the number of Ukrainian businesses in Poland increased by an average of 34% annually.

Polish business in Ukraine

Against the backdrop of the growing activity of Ukrainians in Poland, the presence of Polish companies in Ukraine looks more modest. As of February 2024, there were 3,635 registered Polish companies, which is 21 times less than the number of Ukrainian individual entrepreneurs in Poland.

Key industries for Polish companies in Ukraine

▪️ Manufacturing - 17%.

▪️ Professional, scientific and technical activities - 8%.

▪️ Administrative and support services - 7%.

Thus, Polish companies are actively involved in trade, industrial production, the scientific and technical sector, as well as providing various administrative services.
