How to get a job in the Czech Republic?

If you have temporary protection status:

Ukrainians with temporary protection status can work without a work permit. This gives them access to the Czech labour market. A person with temporary protection has the right to conclude an employment contract (or other types of employment contracts that provide for additional earnings).

The Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of the Czech Republic has prepared Information for Employers and Foreigners in connection with the conflict in Ukraine and the Ten Commandments for Ukrainian Citizens Working in the Czech Republic for Ukrainian citizens. If you follow the link, you will be able to find out your rights as a military migrant and find information on where to go if these rights have been violated.

If you have received a work visa:

A work permit in the Czech Republic is required for those who do not have temporary protection, a labour card or a blue card.

Where do Ukrainians work in the Czech Republic now?

What kind of work in the Czech Republic is currently in high demand?

Engineers, doctors, and IT professionals (programmers, designers, testers, project managers) are in demand. Logistics, automotive, and heavy industry are active areas of activity in the Czech Republic. Therefore, it is not uncommon to find invitations for workers to work at a factory, as well as for specialists in freight transport.

There is a shortage of people with professional knowledge in the country, as many locals move to other European countries with higher salaries. This is especially true for doctors. The average age of a doctor in the Czech Republic is 52, and when they have to retire, there is no one to replace them. Young Czech doctors quickly leave their home country to earn 2-3 times more in Germany, Switzerland, Ireland, and the UK.

Where do most Ukrainians work now?

The leading sectors are the production of consumer goods, automotive and logistics. The country is a kind of hub between Western and Eastern Europe for large logistics operators. The Czech Republic is home to factories that mass-produce parts for global car giants.

Earlier, we talked about the cost of living in the Czech Republic. Find out the latest information on the cost of living in the Czech Republic in 2024-2025 here.

What are the salaries of Ukrainians in the Czech Republic?

The salary without knowledge of the language and experience is 25-35 thousand Czech crowns (1000-1400 euros, or 40-55 thousand UAH). Additional money can often be earned for working on weekends or night shifts, which are paid higher according to the labour code. Employers usually provide free accommodation and often issue food coupons.
