The international project Numbeo annually compiles a quality of life ranking among countries. The authors evaluate the quality of life based on the following criteria: climate, environmental pollution, purchasing power, housing price-to-income ratio, cost of living, security, healthcare quality, and commuting time.

Thus, in the first half of 2024, Luxembourg topped the ranking of countries in terms of quality of life, while Nigeria was in last place among 83 countries. Let's learn more about the leaders and outsiders of this year's ranking.

Top 10 countries by quality of life

1st place: Luxembourg - high purchasing power, safety, and healthcare quality.

2nd place: Netherlands - strong economy and high standard of living.

3rd place: Denmark - noted for its excellent social support and safety.

4th place: Oman - high level of security and purchasing power.

5th place: Switzerland - known for its stability and excellent healthcare system.

6th place: Finland - strong social protection and quality of life.

7th place: Iceland - stable economy and social support.

8th place: Austria - a combination of safety, health and economic stability.

9th place: Norway - high standard of living and social protection.

10th place: Sweden - stable economy and high standard of living.

Which countries have the lowest quality of life rating?

According to the Numbeo report, Nigeria is in last place with a score of 42.7. The situation is slightly better in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Iran, Peru, Lebanon, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Thailand.

Where does Ukraine stand?

Ukraine ranks 66th, which indicates a stable but still lower standard of living compared to European countries. Interestingly, in 2020, Ukraine ranked 65th in terms of quality of life. That is, the full-scale invasion did not cause a sharp drop in the country's ranking. According to estimates, there has been some improvement, particularly in the healthcare sector.

At the same time, russia and Belarus are higher in the ranking and occupy 65th and 52nd places, respectively.
