Why do I need a certificate of registration as a citizen of Ukraine?

This certificate can be a confirmation of Ukrainian citizenship. On its basis, you can draw up documents for your child that are important for the realization of his or her legal personality. In addition, on the basis of this certificate, a person has the right to obtain a passport of a citizen of Ukraine for traveling abroad and an internal passport in the form of an ID card.

Conditions for obtaining a certificate of citizenship registration

The certificate is issued after a decision is made to formalize the citizenship of Ukraine or after receiving a notification of acceptance of citizenship by the relevant Decree of the President of Ukraine. The document is issued no later than 10 days after the relevant decision is made.

Note that the validity of this document is unlimited.

Who can obtain a certificate?

The recipients of the administrative service are individuals who, in accordance with the Law of Ukraine “On Citizenship of Ukraine”, have legal grounds for establishing their citizenship or acquiring citizenship and have applied to the relevant territorial body or unit of the SMS with a written application for the provision of the administrative service.

Documents required to obtain a certificate

To obtain a certificate, you need to submit the following documents:

– An application with information about the applicant: surname, name, patronymic, place of residence, telephone number.

– Two photographs 35 x 45 mm in size.

– A payment document (receipt) with a bank stamp or transaction code indicating payment of the service fee.

When submitting an application and other documents on citizenship, a passport or a document that replaces it and certifies the applicant's identity, as well as a document confirming the applicant's residence in Ukraine or his/her permanent residence abroad, shall be submitted. If necessary, a certified translation of the document into Ukrainian is required.

Procedure for obtaining a certificate

1. Submission of the application: Apply in person to the territorial body or subdivision of the SMS at the place of residence with a written application and the necessary documents.

2. Obtaining the certificate: The certificate can be obtained at the relevant territorial body or subdivision of the SMS, checking the correctness of the information entered in the document form.

Please note! The application is submitted personally by an individual or through his/her legal representatives.

For children, the certificate can be obtained by one of the parents or other legal representative who applied for the child's Ukrainian citizenship.

This type of certificate is available when:

– both parents of the child are foreigners and legally reside in Ukraine;

– one of the parents is a foreigner;

– the child was born to Ukrainian citizens, but it happened abroad.
