On 12 July 2024, it became known that electronic protocols for documenting traffic violations were introduced at the initiative of the National Police of Ukraine. How they will work and how they will change the procedure for documenting administrative violations is described below.
Electronic protocol: what do we know?
This innovation should significantly speed up the process of documenting a traffic violation.
How it works:
● when stopping a car, police officers record the violation and print out an electronic protocol using special devices in two copies: one is given to the driver against a receipt, and the other is kept;
● the protocol is automatically sent to the court for consideration, along with other case materials. It is noted that information about the driver and the car can be added to the electronic protocol from the Diia app.
Keep in mind. The police emphasise that handwritten protocols are still valid and continue to operate on a par with electronic ones.
Advantages of electronic protocols:
● Automation and acceleration of administrative violations;
● automatic submission of materials on violations to the court;
● quick check of detailed information about the vehicle through the relevant databases and registers;
● facilitating data exchange between government agencies;
● reducing the risk of corruption schemes;
● ease of reading the protocol without the need to analyse poorly recorded information.
Remember that to save your own life and the lives of people involved in road traffic, it is important not to neglect the rules of the road traffic code.
It is also worth noting that all drivers in Ukraine are required to have valid MTPL insurance.
