Conditions for obtaining permanent residence in Ukraine

A permanent residence permit in Ukraine is issued on the basis of an immigration permit. The main grounds for obtaining an immigration permit are related to family ties with Ukrainian citizens. However, if you do not have close relatives in Ukraine, outstanding achievements in world science, and have not previously held Ukrainian citizenship, one of the most likely ways to obtain a permit is to make a foreign investment.

Investment requirements for obtaining a residence permit

According to the Law of Ukraine "On Immigration", persons who have made a foreign investment in the Ukrainian economy in the amount of at least USD 100 thousand are eligible to obtain an immigration permit. At the same time, such an investment must meet the following requirements:

✅ It must be made in a foreign convertible currency (US dollars, euros, etc.).

✅ Be equivalent to an amount of at least USD 100 thousand.

✅ Be registered in accordance with the procedure established by law.

✅ Be an investment in the economy of Ukraine for the purpose of conducting business activities, making a profit or achieving other social effect.

Please note! The hryvnia is not suitable for investment. According to the Law of Ukraine "On Immigration", it is a foreign convertible currency. The same applies to other forms of investment. Shares and corporate rights, although they qualify as an investment, are not a basis for obtaining a residence permit. Also, the purchase of real estate is not a ground for obtaining a migration permit.

The procedure for obtaining permanent residence

1. Establishment of a legal entity. First, you need to establish your own company or become a member of an already established company in Ukraine.

2. Transfer of investment. After that, you should transfer money to an investment account in a bank in Ukraine.

3. Obtaining a certificate. The bank issues a certificate of investment receipt. This document must contain: information about the receipt of an investment to the relevant account in the form of foreign convertible currency, in the amount of one hundred thousand US dollars or more, the signature of the bank manager, the date of issue and the number. The certificate shall also be stamped.

4. Temporary stay. For temporary stay in the country, a work permit is issued.

5. Submission of documents. After that, documents are submitted to the State Migration Service to obtain an immigration permit.

6. Obtaining a permanent residence permit. After obtaining an immigration permit, a permanent residence permit is issued.

The term for consideration of an application for an immigration permit may not exceed one year from the date of its submission.
