"Ukrzaliznytsia is considering updating the rules for the transportation of animals to provide greater comfort for passengers and their pets. This was reported by the carrier's press service on its Facebook page. What changes are to be introduced in the near future is described below.

Changes in the rules for transporting animals on trains

According to the carrier, after a detailed analysis of the current situation, as well as consultations with experts and lawyers, a list of changes was compiled. These updates have now been submitted for approval.

What will change after the new rules are approved:

1. Modern conditions for carriers: The definition of "rigid construction" will no longer exist, the carrier will allow the use of modern pet backpacks with a waterproof absorbent bottom.

2. Free stay of small animals: Animals up to 45 cm at the withers will be allowed to temporarily stay without a carrier for activity or sleep on the compartment shelf.

3. Travel for large dogs: Large dogs over 45 cm will be able to travel in SV and RIC cars, subject to full redemption of the compartment. In Intercity+ trains, it will also be possible to travel if all seats are purchased as a single block in a row.

4. Service dogs are free of charge: Service dogs of the Defense Forces will be able to travel free of charge in all types of cars, subject to the established rules.

It is important to note that Ukrzaliznytsia will provide alternative seats for passengers who feel uncomfortable or have an allergic reaction to the animal.

The company's representatives also noted that "before the changes are approved by the State Regulatory Service of Ukraine, the draft order will be subjected to public discussion in order to take into account the interests of all passengers and ensure the comfort of everyone on board."
