According to the official commentary of the Ministry of Infrastructure, the service of choosing a time slot for a predictable border crossing is already available at 16 checkpoints for regular and irregular carriers.

At which border crossing points can hour-long queues be avoided?

One of the key tasks of the international bus transportation reform is to ensure timely border crossing without long queues thanks to the eChezha service, which is already available at 16 of the 28 operating checkpoints. 

Currently, this service is available at all five checkpoints with Romania, 10 checkpoints with Moldova, and the largest checkpoint Yahodyn-Dorohusk with Poland.

In addition, at 12 other checkpoints, the queue operates on a "register and go" basis. Therefore, this does not allow us to fully predict the waiting time at the border.

In order to use the service, you should select the "Buses" filter in the "Busload" section of the echerha.gov.ua website and specify the country you want to travel to. If the queue is called "Scheduled", then carriers will be able to choose a specific hour for recording and plan the border crossing as accurately as possible.

New Nyzhankovychi-Malkhovychi border crossing point with Poland

By the end of 2024, the Nyzhankovychi-Malkhovychi checkpoint should be fully operational on the Ukrainian-Polish border, according to Pawel Kowal, chairman of the Polish Council for Cooperation with Ukraine.

Currently, there is a temporary checkpoint for empty trucks weighing more than 7.5 tons. However, work on the purchase of equipment has already been accelerated to ensure that the crossing will be fully operational by the end of the year.

When the border crossing is opened, joint control will be carried out, with the control services of Poland and Ukraine located on the territory of Poland. In addition, the category of vehicles that will be able to use the crossing point will be expanded, and pedestrian traffic will not be allowed.

The estimated cost of the construction of the Nyzhankovychi-Malkhovychi checkpoint is 109 million zlotys (almost $27.1 million), with all costs financed by the Polish side.
