The Ukrainian government's initiative to improve driver services and simplify the process of obtaining a driver's license for those abroad is actively developing. In October 2023, Ukrainians could order a driver's license only to Poland, and today international delivery is available to 17 countries.

What are the conditions for ordering a Ukrainian license abroad?

The international delivery service is available for drivers

– whose permanent or temporary driving license has expired;

– who have changed their personal data (surname, name, etc.)

– who have damaged their driver's license (plastic card is worn off, inscriptions on the license are illegible, etc.)

To which countries can I order the delivery of a driver's license from Ukraine?

Currently, the service is available in Poland, Germany, Hungary, Moldova, Slovakia, Romania, Spain, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Czech Republic, Italy, Bulgaria, France, Turkey, Austria, and the Netherlands.

How to order the delivery of a driver's license through the electronic cabinet?

To order delivery, the driver must:

1. Log in to the driver's electronic cabinet using Bank ID or Diia. Signature".

2. In the menu, select "Order a service" and then click on "Restoration and exchange of driver's license".

3. Select the appropriate reason for exchanging the driver's license from the proposed options.

4. Select international delivery by Ukrposhta and provide your contact information.

5. Confirm the entered data with an electronic signature and pay for the service.

The cost of the service: 311 UAH for a new driver's license + 960 UAH for its delivery abroad.
Delivery time: 10-15 days.

It is also possible to reissue a driver's license at the branches of the state enterprise "Document", but the cost of this service is much higher than ordering a document through the driver's electronic cabinet, and it also requires a larger package of documents, including a certificate of fitness to drive.

What else is required to drive a car with Ukrainian registration abroad?

First of all, when planning a trip or already being abroad in a car with Ukrainian registration, the driver must take care of obtaining a Green Card in advance - a car insurance policy that is mandatory in 50 countries, including the EU.

After all, if a driver does not have an insurance policy, or if it has expired for at least one day, he or she faces not only a serious fine, the amount of which is several times higher than the cost of an insurance policy issued for a year, but in some cases even the confiscation of the vehicle and deportation from the host country with a subsequent entry ban.
