Ukrainians continue to seek temporary asylum in Europe. The number of people fleeing the war has reached almost 4.3 million and continues to grow in the European Union.

We will tell you which countries remain the most popular among Ukrainians and which are losing interest among refugees.

Which EU countries do Ukrainian refugees choose?

According to Eurostat, the most popular destinations for Ukrainian refugees are:

Germany, which received the largest number of people (1,235,960 or 28.9% of the total number in the EU);

Poland, where 955,110 people found refuge (22.3%);

The Czech Republic, which received 369,330 refugees (8.6%).

Even more Ukrainians went to countries such as:

Germany (increase by 20,595 or +1.7%);

Czech Republic (increase by 4,880 or +1.3%);

Norway (increase by 4,180 or +6.9%).

It is worth noting that while in October 2023 Ukrainians sought asylum in all EU countries, in November they began to leave such countries as Poland (down 5,510), Italy (-160), France (-125) and Luxembourg (-15).

Overall, more than 98% of persons with temporary protection in the EU are Ukrainian citizens. Adult women make up almost half of all refugees (46.3%), children 33.3%, and men 20.4%.
