Airline tickets may rise significantly in price in the summer of 2024 due to a number of problems with Boeing aircraft. This is reported by The Sun.

Ryanair CEO Michael O'Leary said that as a result of the incident with Alaskan Airlines, 171 Boeing 737 Max 9 aircraft were suspended. This will have a direct impact on airfares this summer.

O'Leary pointed out that capacity has become a serious issue and therefore airfares, especially during the peak summer season, will be higher as short-haul capacity has decreased in Europe.

In addition, the company's chairman warned that low-cost carriers may lack 10 aircraft this summer due to delays in the delivery of their own Boeing aircraft.

According to him, the company expects to receive 57 planes by the end of April, and may receive another 50 by the end of June.

"So we'll be down to five, seven, maybe ten aircraft for the peak of the summer season this year," O'Leary added.

As for the Boeing incident, on January 5 in the United States, a passenger Boeing 737-9 of Alaska Airlines lost part of its fuselage during the flight, which led to an emergency landing. The US Federal Aviation Administration suspended flights of 737 MAX 9 aircraft due to this incident, which led to a drop in Boeing shares by 8.7%.
