Recently, it became known that a new railway route is being prepared between Poland and Ukraine. However, it turned out that they have been trying to launch the service for a long time, but for some reason, the launch has been delayed. We will tell you more about the new railway connection in the article below.

New railway route Poland - Ukraine: what is known 

Rynek-kolejowy.pl reports that a passenger train is to be launched between the Polish city of Przemyśl and the Ukrainian village of Nyzhankovychi. In fact, it is a continuation of the existing railway connection, which runs from Przemyśl to the border town of Malhowice. 

It is noted that the railway infrastructure between Malhowice and Nyzhankovychi has not been used for a long time. However, it became known that a year ago, the railway route was repaired to restore the connection, after which passenger trains were to be launched.

The marshal of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship is responsible for the new route, but no information about the launch of the service has been made public.

Why was the launch of the Przemyśl-Nyzhankovychi connection postponed? 

● Before the official launch of the service, Ukrzaliznytsia must provide the technical infrastructure for passenger registration at the border;

● There are no access roads to the platform located in Malhowice. However, it is reported that the relevant works have already been agreed;

● All arrangements for allowing Polish rolling stock to operate on the tracks of Ukrzaliznytsia need to be legally agreed upon;

● Lack of an insurer. Due to the war in Ukraine, the search for an insurance company that would agree to insure the Polish carrier in Ukraine has been very long.  

Due to all these factors, it is impossible to name an exact date for the launch of the railway service.
