Registration of individual entrepreneurs in Ukraine in 2026 demonstrates a stable positive trend - despite the war, Ukrainians are opening their own business more often than closing it. Over the first two quarters, the net increase in individual entrepreneurs reached 39,214 people, and the number of terminations decreased by more than a third compared to last year's indicators. This is evidenced by data from the Opendatabot analytical service obtained from the Unified State Register.
How many new businesses were opened in Ukraine in 2026 and in which sectors are the most individual entrepreneurs, we tell in this article.
How is the number of individual entrepreneurs in Ukraine changing in 2026?
From January to June, 141,472 new individual entrepreneurs were registered in Ukraine, while 102,258 entrepreneurs ceased their activities. Interestingly, the number of new registrations remained almost unchanged - the growth was ensured by the reduction in closures, which were 36% less than a year ago. In the first months of 2026, the most active entrepreneurship grew in the fields of education, retail trade and postal services, and the leaders in the growth of new entrepreneurs were Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk and Lviv regions.
This trend did not arise suddenly. Data from the Ministry of Economy, published back in June, show that the number of active individual entrepreneurs in Ukraine has been steadily growing since the beginning of 2025, despite martial law. According to the State Statistics Service, more than 2.18 million individual entrepreneurs are currently registered in the country - and this figure continues to slowly but surely increase every month.
