The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine has summed up the results of 2025: passenger traffic has increased, and there have been fewer attempts at illegal border crossings
The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine has published the results of its work for 2025. Find out how passenger traffic has changed, what violations were detected at the border, and what losses the enemy suffered
Throughout 2025, the State Border Service of Ukraine recorded an increase in passenger traffic, tighter border controls, and a decrease in the number of attempts to cross the border illegally. The results of the service's activities are reported on the official website of the State Border Service of Ukraine.
Over the course of the year, Ukrainian border guards processed more than 37 million people and about 8.2 million vehicles. Compared to 2024, total passenger traffic increased by an average of 5%, indicating a gradual recovery in the mobility of citizens, particularly in directions to European Union countries.
The most popular border crossing destinations in 2025
The Ukrainian-Polish border remains the most intense route, accounting for 50% of all passenger traffic. The second most popular destination is the Republic of Moldova, which was used by 17% of citizens.
Reminder: drivers planning to travel abroad in their own cars must have a Green Card. Ukrainian drivers can apply for it in advance online through Visit Ukraine, which helps to avoid delays and problems at the border.

Violations and forged documents: what border guards found
During border control at checkpoints, about 2,300 invalid, forged, or foreign passport documents were found. In addition, border guards prevented the illegal movement of goods and cargo worth a total of almost UAH 1 billion.
Also, in 2025, the following were detected:
● 40 stolen vehicles;
● 174 cars with forged or technically faulty documents.
Foreign violators and illegal migration
During the year, border guards detected nearly 4,800 foreign nationals who violated the rules of stay in Ukraine. At the same time, the State Border Guard Service continued to work to counter illegal migration and organized schemes of illegal border crossing.
According to the service, in 2025, the number of attempts to cross the border illegally decreased by 15% compared to the previous year. This is one of the key positive indicators in the field of border security.
Combating illegal transfers: statistics on criminal proceedings
Based on the facts of organizing illegal transportation of persons across the border in 2025, law enforcement agencies:
● initiated about 1,500 criminal proceedings;
● stopped the activities of 520 illegal groups;
● reported 1,600 persons as suspects, of whom 281 have already received convictions.
Border service and combat operations on the front line
In 2025, the State Border Service of Ukraine continued to serve in an enhanced 24/7 mode. The units simultaneously:
● guarded sections of the border with EU countries and Moldova;
● countered smuggling and illegal activities;
● ensured the safety of citizens at checkpoints;
● carried out combat missions as part of the Ukrainian Defense Forces on the front line.
It should be noted that the number of enemy attacks on border guard positions doubled to 150,000. In response, State Border Guard Service personnel, using available weapons, eliminated and wounded nearly 25,000 russian occupiers.
The enemy also suffered significant losses in equipment and weapons:
● more than 200 tanks destroyed;
● 520 armored vehicles;
● over 1,050 artillery systems;
● nearly 21,000 UAVs;
● over 800 warehouses with ammunition and fuel and lubricants.
