The small but atmospheric Khust knows how to surprise: castle ruins, a unique daffodil valley, the Czech quarter, farms and museums - there is a vacation for every taste. Find out more about what to see in Khust and how to spend your weekend
Khust is a unique city where the calm rhythm of the Carpathians is combined with history, nature and interesting locations for every taste. Here you can climb the castle hill, stroll through atmospheric neighborhoods, visit unique natural and cultural sites, or spend time on farms and in museums. Khust is suitable for those who want to spend a leisurely but meaningful weekend discovering new places and experiences. In this article, we have collected the most interesting locations in the city and the best places to eat.
In the previous article, we provided a detailed guide on what to see and how to spend your time in Khotyn.
Castle Hill
Castle Hill is one of the main points of attraction in Khust, a place where history is felt in every stone. Today, it is a cozy nature park with picturesque trails, an old cemetery, and the graves of the heroes of Carpathian Ukraine. The atmosphere here is calm and measured, and views of the city add a special charm to the walk.
Once upon a time, there was even a ski slope on the mountain, of which only traces of the lift remain. Locals joke that Khust can still surprise you. Perhaps one day this location will get a new life.
Highland Ranch
The Highland Ranch is one of the brightest locations in the Khust community, where nature, comfort and entertainment are harmoniously combined in one space. This eco-ranch operates as a petting zoo, snail farm, and hotel with an open-air vat and bathhouse, making it a great place for a family vacation or a romantic escape from the city.
The area is equipped with playgrounds, picturesque ponds, and a restaurant, so it's easy to spend a whole day here enjoying the tranquility and Carpathian nature.

Narcissus Valley
The Narcissus Valley is a unique natural gem of Khust, known for the massive flowering of the rare narrow-leaved daffodil, which is listed in the Red Book of Ukraine. Despite the fact that this flower usually grows in mountainous areas, the valley is located only 100-120 meters above sea level, a phenomenon that scientists explain by the ancient melting of glaciers and the dispersal of plants along with water flows.
The peak of flowering lasts only 5-10 days in early May, but it is during this period that thousands of tourists visit the valley. If you are planning a trip, you should arrive early in the morning, when the flowers are especially lush and there are few people.
The Czech Quarter
The Czech Quarter is one of the most atmospheric parts of Khust, where the city has preserved the architectural style of the early twentieth century. The quarter was built by the Czechoslovakian authorities specifically for military personnel and was designed in the popular chalet style of the time. That is why a walk along its streets resembles a trip to a European town without a time machine.
It has a special aesthetic: neat houses, wooden elements and the unique spirit of old Khust. The location is ideal for quiet walks and photos that convey the flavor of the city.

Khust Castle
Khust Castle, which dates back to the XI-XVIII centuries, has been preserved mostly in the form of ruins, but this is what gives it its special charm. The majestic walls, tower foundations, and stone passages create a sense of antiquity, and the panoramas that open from the top of the mountain make the climb worthwhile.
This is an ideal place to start exploring Khust: it offers views of the old town and the picturesque surroundings. Sunrises and sunsets over the castle are especially impressive. If you are planning a photo shoot, it is better to come during these hours.
Church of the Holy Annunciation
The Holy Annunciation Church is one of the main Orthodox churches in Khust, built in 1929. It has a traditional architecture with a large central dome and several smaller ones that create a recognizable silhouette against the city's backdrop. For many years, the church has been the spiritual center of the community, a place of worship and important events in the lives of local residents.
In recent years, the church has been restored, preserving its historical features and original beauty. Now it is not only a spiritual but also an architectural landmark that should be included in your city tour.
Selyshche Cheese Factory
The Selyshche Cheese Factory is a real must-visit for craft cheese lovers and gastronomic tourists. Here, guests are shown all the stages of production: from heating milk to forming cheese heads, so everyone can feel like a real cheese maker.
The tour is followed by a tasting of local varieties, which are served with Transcarpathian homemade wine. And at the end, you can visit the shop and buy natural goodies to take home.
Ostrich farm
The Ostrich Farm is a great location for family vacations and fun experiences. Here you can see the giant birds up close, feed them from your hands, and learn interesting facts about their behavior and characteristics. Children are usually delighted with such a trip, and adults are no less active in taking pictures of feathered giants.
It's worth remembering that ostriches don't like bright clothes - this is an important detail for safe interaction. At the farm, you can also buy an unusual souvenir - an ostrich egg that weighs up to 2 kg.
Earlier we talked about the history, location, and tourist potential of the little-known Carpathian village of Yamelnytsia.
Church of St. Elizabeth
St. Elizabeth's Church is one of the oldest and most valuable sacred monuments in Khust, dating back to the 13th century. Originally, it was a Roman Catholic church, and these architectural features have been preserved to this day: a restrained silhouette, thick walls, Gothic elements, and an atmosphere of antiquity that is felt from the first steps inside.
This place is often called the pearl of Transcarpathia, and for good reason. The temple combines historical value, unique architecture, and a calm, almost meditative atmosphere, which is why it should be added to the city's itinerary.
Khust Museum of Local Lore
The Khust Museum of Local Lore is a place where the history of the region comes to life through household items, clothing, dishes, and unique archaeological finds. The museum's collection includes about 2000 exhibits, many of which are original and reflect the distinctive development of the region.
Particularly interesting are the exhibits related to the history of Khust Castle, including a statuette of the goddess Shakti and two monkey figures that, according to legend, belonged to the Mongol-Tatars who tried to take the castle in 1241. A visit to the museum is a great way to complement your trip to the city locations and learn more about the past of Khust.
