The sunny pearls of Europe: a winter holiday without the exotic

If you are not ready for long flights, Europe offers several unique places where ‘eternal spring’ reigns and the air temperature easily stays above +18°C.

The first place, without a doubt, is taken by the Canary Islands (Spain), which are not without reason called ‘the island of eternal spring’. In particular, in Tenerife or Gran Canaria, you can not only enjoy the beaches, but also take exciting excursions to volcanic national parks, as the average winter temperature here often reaches +21°C.

The second Atlantic gem is Madeira (Portugal). This archipelago is distinguished by its subtropical climate and lush green landscapes, ideal for trekking and leisurely walks along the coast, where the comfortable temperature allows you to relax even in a light jacket.

The Mediterranean region also offers its warm alternatives. Cyprus remains one of the warmest Mediterranean countries, where mild winters with temperatures up to +18°C create ideal conditions for exploring ancient sites such as Limassol or Paphos without crowds of tourists.

The small but historically rich archipelago of Malta also guarantees mild winters with moderate temperatures, and the sea here is often warmer than the air, which is conducive to long walks.

The southern region of Andalusia (Spain) rounds out the European TOP. Although it is not always possible to swim here, cities such as Seville and Malaga offer many sunny days, ideal for exploring Mudejar architecture, enjoying flamenco shows and tapas without the unbearable summer heat.

Exotic paradise: holidays outside the continent

For those looking for guaranteed summer warmth, you need to travel outside the European continent, where a real holiday season awaits you.

Egypt has been a reliable and proven destination for many years. Thanks to its geographical location, it has comfortable weather for a beach holiday with air temperatures above +20°C, and the small number of holidaymakers and the absence of exhausting heat make it attractive for family holidays.

The winter season in Thailand is the peak tourist season, as the rainy season ends and comfortable dry weather sets in with temperatures around +28°C, making resorts such as Phuket and Samui the perfect choice for a beach holiday.

For lovers of luxury and modern metropolises, the United Arab Emirates, in particular Dubai, is the ideal choice. In winter, the temperature here is most comfortable for excursions and beach holidays, avoiding the summer heat, with temperatures around +25°C.

Those who seek true exoticism and white beaches can choose the Maldives. At this time, the winter monsoons ‘iruwa’ prevail here, bringing warmth and sunshine, and the air temperature rarely exceeds +30°C.

Latin America enthusiasts can choose Cuba or the Dominican Republic, where December and January are the height of the beach season, and the Caribbean Sea guarantees perfect warmth and unforgettable views.

Whatever your preference – whether it's immersing yourself in European culture against a backdrop of mild weather or a real summer holiday on exotic beaches – winter offers plenty of opportunities to leave the cold and grey behind.
