Electronic road vignette for Europe now available on Visit Ukraine: instructions on how to apply online
The electronic vignette is now available online at Visit Ukraine — quickly and officially. Learn how to get an e-vignette for traveling in Europe in just a few clicks
From now on, you can obtain an electronic road vignette for traveling around Europe by car directly on the Visit Ukraine website! No more searching for third-party services or wasting time at points of sale — everything is done online, quickly and securely. This allows you to plan your trips with your own car and be confident that your travel is legal and the risk of fines is reduced to zero.
What is an electronic road vignette and why is it needed?
An electronic road vignette (e-vignette) is a digital document that confirms payment for the use of toll roads in Europe. It replaces traditional paper stickers, and vehicle data is stored in an official database. During checks, cameras on motorways automatically read the vehicle's number plate and determine whether the road toll has been paid.
Using toll roads without a valid e-vignette is a violation of the law. In most EU countries, fines range from €50 to €200, and in some cases can be significantly higher.
In which countries is the electronic vignette valid?
The e-vignette system has been introduced in most European countries with toll motorways: the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia, Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova, and Switzerland.
Each country has its own rules: validity periods, costs, and vehicle categories. The validity period can range from a few days to one year.
Each country requires a separate vignette for travel. However, through the Visit Ukraine website, you can easily plan your route — the service will automatically determine if there are toll motorways on your route and allow you to purchase a vignette online for the necessary road sections.

How does the electronic vignette work?
After registration on Visit Ukraine, the vignette is automatically registered in the official database of the selected country. Activation takes place from the start date of the trip, which is specified by the driver during registration. There is no need to print the document or stick it on the windshield — control is carried out by the state number of the car. The document is linked to the license plate of the car, so another driver can also use the vehicle to travel on toll roads.
Please note! The e-vignette is valid on most motorways, but some tunnels or bridges are paid for separately (e.g., Tauern A10, Brenner A13).
Step-by-step instructions for registering a vignette on Visit Ukraine
To purchase an e-vignette, follow the link and:
1. Specify your travel route — select the countries and dates of your trip, and the system will tell you where vignettes are required.
2. Select the type of vehicle — passenger car, minibus, truck, or motorcycle.
3. Fill in the vehicle and driver details — license plate number, country of registration, and email address.
4. Pay online — Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, or Google Pay are accepted.
5. Receive confirmation — the vignette is automatically registered, and a PDF copy is sent to your email.
Please note! If your route passes through several countries with toll roads, you will need to purchase a separate vignette for each one. The Visit Ukraine service will automatically tell you which documents are required.
What types of vehicles can I purchase an e-vignette for?
You can purchase an electronic vignette for any type of vehicle:
● Passenger cars up to 3.5 tons;
● Motorcycles;
● Minibuses, minivans, and vans.
You can even buy a vignette for a rental car. To do this, you need to know the license plate number and technical passport data of the vehicle.
How much does an e-vignette cost?
The cost depends on the country, type of car, and validity period of the vignette:
● Short-term vignettes: €10–25;
● Annual vignettes: €50–120.
What else do you need to travel abroad by car?
In addition to an e-vignette, you must have:
● Green card (international car insurance) — covers civil liability in the event of an accident.
● Medical insurance for traveling abroad — covers the cost of treatment and emergency care.
Both insurance policies can be purchased online at the same time as the vignette on Visit Ukraine — conveniently, quickly, and officially.

Reminder! The European Entry/Exit System (EES) continues to expand at the Ukrainian-Polish border, and now three more checkpoints in the Lviv region have joined it.
