Czech Republic opens registration for new permits for refugees with temporary protection: details
A new stage of support for Ukrainian refugees in the Czech Republic — registration for a special long-term residence permit is now open. Applicants must meet the eligibility criteria, register online, and visit the Ministry of the Interior in person. Find out what steps are required and what documents you need
On September 8, 2025, the Czech Republic will begin official registration for a new special long-term residence permit for refugees with temporary protection.
Who can register?
Those who expressed their desire to obtain a permit in the spring of this year will now be able to check their status. The results of the assessment of compliance with the conditions will be published in your personal account on the Information Portal for Foreigners.
If any of the conditions are marked in red as unfulfilled, it will not be possible to register.
If a condition is marked as partially fulfilled, you can submit an application, but you will need to provide a complete set of documents during your personal visit.
How does the process work?
After registration, you need to book a date to visit the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) office. You can only change the selected date once, so it is advisable to choose a time when all family members (household) who are submitting documents together can appear with a complete set of documents.
Important: Documents do not require a certified translation or apostille, but they cannot be laminated.
Registration and booking a date for the whole family is carried out by only one representative — the so-called “founder of the joint household.”

Registration validity period
Applications can be submitted from September 8 to December 31, 2025.
During the first visit to the Ministry of the Interior office, biometric data will be collected, after which a date for a second visit will be set to receive a biometric permit card. It will not be possible to change this date.
Additional information
The Czech Ministry of the Interior has announced that, before registration begins, it will publish a video tutorial explaining the procedure in detail: how to register, how to book a date, and what documents to prepare.
The instructions and all relevant explanations will be available at:
- the official Information Portal of the Ministry of the Interior for foreigners (section “Special long-term residence permit”),
- the Naši Ukrajinci pages on Facebook and Telegram.
