Despite the war, Kyiv received record tourist revenue in 2025: how much did the capital earn?
Kyiv demonstrates the resilience of its tourism sector even during wartime: in 2025, the capital set a new record for tourism revenue. Revenues increased by almost 65% compared to last year, which was made possible by the development of domestic tourism and an active promotional campaign for the city. Find out how much the capital earned and where the funds are being directed
Despite the difficult conditions caused by the war, Ukraine's capital continues to welcome visitors and show growth in tourism revenues. According to the Tourism and Promotion Department of the Kyiv City State Administration, tourism revenue amounted to UAH 34.8 million in the first two quarters of 2025, which is almost 65% more than in the same period of 2024, when the budget received UAH 22.6 million.
For comparison: for the whole of last year, tourist tax in Kyiv reached UAH 50.83 million – a record figure for wartime, significantly exceeding the results of 2022 (UAH 38.8 million) and especially the crisis year of 2023.

Where the funds are directed
All proceeds from the tourist tax under martial law are directed to the urgent needs of the city. The administration emphasises that it is thanks to this that the tax has become an important tool for supporting urban infrastructure and the social sphere during the crisis.
Under martial law, it is important not only to plan your route, but also to take care of medical protection. On the Visit Ukraine portal, you can take out medical insurance covering military risks, which will provide access to emergency assistance in any situation and make your trip as peaceful as possible.

Why has tourism revenue increased?
The increase in revenue can be explained by several factors. Firstly, there has been a revival of domestic tourism: Ukrainians are increasingly choosing to travel around the country, including the capital, which continues to be the centre of cultural, business and gastronomic life. Secondly, the result has been achieved thanks to Kyiv's active promotional campaign at the international level and within the country, as well as the joint work of local authorities, businesses and the tourism community.
Even during the war, the capital remains attractive to visitors thanks to its rich cultural programme, gastronomic projects, excursions and support for Ukrainian diaspora initiatives. Museums continue to operate in Kyiv, and exhibitions, concerts and local tours are held, demonstrating the city's resilience and ability to adapt.
