Ukrzaliznytsia ticket prices depend on many factors: season, day of the week, car class, and train type. Learn more about the cheapest periods, the best days to travel, and life hacks on how to save money by buying tickets in advance or round-trip tickets
The cost of tickets for Ukrzaliznytsia trains is not fixed—it changes throughout the year depending on the season, day of the week, type of train, and class of carriage. This is regulated by an order of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, which provides special coefficients for calculating prices.
By understanding these rules, passengers can save significantly on their travels.
Seasonal coefficients
At different times of the year, coefficients are applied that increase or decrease the base ticket price.
The most expensive period is the New Year holidays from December 25 to 31, when a coefficient of 1.1 is applied to the ticket price.
The cheapest tickets can be purchased at the end of January, when a reduction coefficient of 0.85 applies from the 21st to the 31st.
For example, if the base ticket price is 1,000 UAH, it will cost 1,100 UAH during periods of high demand and only 850 UAH during the cheapest time.
When is it cheaper to travel on weekdays?
The price also depends on the day the trip begins:
Tuesday and Wednesday are the cheapest days to travel (coefficient 0.9).
Friday and Sunday have the highest fares (coefficient 1.1).
Monday, Thursday, and Saturday are standard fare days (coefficient 1.0).

Special features for Intercity+
Separate rules apply to high-speed trains:
Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday: tickets are sold at the regular price (1.0).
Thursday and Saturday – tickets are cheaper (coefficient 0.9).
Friday and Sunday are the most expensive days (1.1).
In addition, when buying tickets for Intercity+ in both directions (there and back) at the same time, you can get a 10% discount.
How to save on tickets?
1. Plan your trip for Tuesday or Wednesday when prices are lowest.
2. Choose the end of January or other “low” seasons with a coefficient of 0.85.
3. For Intercity+, it is advantageous to buy tickets for both directions.
4. Buy tickets in advance — on peak dates, the cheapest seats are sold out first.
