Ukrzaliznytsia is launching a new experimental regional train service between Lviv, Ternopil, and Khmelnytskyi. Find out more about the updated fleet with inclusive access and another step towards modern and safe transportation for all
Starting July 11, Ukrzaliznytsia is launching a new daily regional train No. 826/825 on the Lviv–Ternopil–Khmelnytskyi route.
The train will run daily, except Tuesdays, and will be another example of modern and affordable suburban transport.
This route is special because it will be served by the experimental train EPL9T No. 007, which has just undergone major repairs and received a second class comfort rating. The carriages were renovated by Ukrzaliznytsia itself, providing them with a new level of service and equipment.
Comfort and accessibility for everyone
The renovated train is designed to provide maximum comfort for all categories of passengers. In particular, it is equipped with:
Ramps and inclusive toilets for the convenience of people with disabilities;
Special seats for passengers in wheelchairs;
Bicycle racks — a great solution for travelers who combine train travel with cycling;
Two vending machines with drinks and snacks — to make the journey even more enjoyable.
Modern amenities on the road
Travelers can also expect a range of new options that meet the needs of today's passengers:
- individual adjustable soft seats;
- power outlets and USB ports for charging gadgets;
- individual tables and smartphone holders for watching movies or working on the go;
- an updated lighting system with night mode;
- toilet occupancy indicators;
- route information boards;
- enlarged luggage racks and separate shelves for suitcases.

An important investment in the future
This train is the fifth to undergo major repairs in 2025 and the 42nd since the start of the full-scale invasion. All modernization work was carried out by Ukrzaliznytsia, once again proving the company's ability to operate effectively even in wartime.
Since the beginning of the year, more than 14.5 million passengers have used suburban trains, a quarter of whom are beneficiaries of special privileges. That is why Ukrzaliznytsia continues to work on upgrading its rolling stock, as railways remain the most stable and safest mode of transport in wartime: no traffic jams, clear schedules, and the ability to operate even during air raid alerts.
Systemic renewal of suburban transport requires state funding and support. Only by joining forces can Ukraine provide its citizens with affordable, comfortable, and safe transport worthy of a modern European state.
