The United Kingdom has begun preparations to launch flights to Ukraine after the war ends. Find out more about the significance of this step for the economy, investors and family reunification
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said that British experts are already working on preparations to resume air traffic with Ukraine as soon as a ceasefire is agreed upon. The statement was posted on the official website of the UK government and was made during a press conference in Kyiv as part of the Coalition of the Resolute summit.
According to the British prime minister, the launch of flights will be a symbolic and practical step towards the normalization of life in Ukraine, which has been living in a full-scale war for more than two years.
“It will take time, but it will be an extremely important step in rebuilding the Ukrainian economy, strengthening investor confidence and helping to reunite families who have been forced to separate by the war,” Starmer emphasized.
He noted that the return of civilian air traffic is not only an infrastructure issue, but also a humanitarian one. The resumption of flights will allow Ukrainians who have been forced to leave the country to return home faster and will also ensure better communication between Ukraine and its international partners.

In addition, the UK is considering providing technical and financial assistance to rebuild airports damaged by the fighting. It is not only about reconstructing the infrastructure, but also about the security measures necessary to open the skies to civil aviation.
Starmer also noted that this step will send an important signal to global investors and businesses: Ukraine is returning to peaceful life and opening up new opportunities for international cooperation.
It is worth mentioning that Poland has also announced its intention to be the first country to resume air traffic with Ukraine. According to Pawel Kowal, the Polish government's commissioner for the reconstruction of Ukraine, Warsaw is preparing for this step, taking into account the security situation and looking forward to the opening of Ukrainian airspace.
As a reminder, air traffic in Ukraine was completely suspended on February 24, 2022, due to the start of russia's full-scale invasion. Since then, all commercial flights from Ukrainian airports have been canceled for security reasons.
Please note! In today's realities, war risk insurance has become a key tool for protecting businesses and investors in Ukraine. It is not only a guarantee of financial stability in the face of unpredictable threats, but also an important signal of confidence in the Ukrainian economy. Thanks to the support of international partners and government programs, insurance mechanisms are becoming more accessible to both large companies and small and medium-sized businesses.
