Why might a visa to Ukraine be denied?


Yes. Ukrainian law provides for 11 main reasons for visa refusal:


1. Threat to national security or public order

2. Risks to the health of the population and the rights of Ukrainian citizens

3. Prohibition of entry into Ukraine

4. Problems with passport documents (forgery, damage, non-compliance with the sample)

5. Provision of false information or forged documents

6. Absence or invalidity of medical insurance

7. Insufficient financial capacity

8. Failure to confirm the purpose of stay in Ukraine

9. Lack of documents confirming the intention to leave Ukraine before the expiry of the visa

10. Withdrawal of the visa application by the applicant

11. Refusal to provide biometric data (if required)


If the visa is refused, the passport is marked “Applied” and the applicant receives a notification of refusal.




Appealing a visa refusal


If you are refused a visa, do not despair. You have the right to appeal:


1. Where to appeal


● To the Embassy or Consulate of Ukraine

● In the case of an electronic visa – to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine

● Through authorized visa centers


2. Appeal processing time


● Usually about 10 business days

● In some cases, from one day to 30 days


3. Appeal cost


● Submitting an appeal letter is free

● A small fee may apply when submitting through a visa center

● The cost of legal services depends on the complexity of the case
