A certificate of no criminal record is a document confirming that the individual named in the document has not been held criminally liable, has not been convicted, and is not wanted by law enforcement agencies in Ukraine. The law stipulates that a certificate of no criminal record can be obtained by any person, both Ukrainian and foreign, residing in Ukraine.




When is a certificate of no criminal record required?


Among the cases when a foreigner may need a certificate of no criminal record are:


– obtaining Ukrainian citizenship;

– obtaining a temporary or permanent residence permit in Ukraine;

– when applying to institutions of foreign states;

– when applying for adoption or guardianship;

– establishing a foster family or a family-type children's home;

– participating in a tender;

– obtaining a gun license;

– obtaining a license to work with explosive substances;

– preparing a package of documents for a visa to travel abroad;

– when submitting documents to social security authorities;

– for obtaining a license to work with narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances;

– for obtaining or renewing documents;

– for obtaining a driver's license;

– for presentation at the place of request and in other cases provided for by law.

How to obtain a certificate of no criminal record?


The procedure for obtaining a certificate of no criminal record involves collecting and submitting documents and a corresponding application.


Who issues a certificate of no criminal record?


A certificate of no criminal record in Ukraine is issued by the authorized bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. To obtain a certificate of no criminal record, a person can contact the territorial service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.


Foreigners may find it difficult to independently complete the procedure of submitting documents to the service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs due to language barriers and bureaucratic nuances. Documents required for obtaining a certificate of no criminal record


To obtain a certificate of no criminal record, a person must prepare:

identification code;

– an application for a certificate.


In addition, the applicant must:

– indicate all previous first and last names, if any, and provide copies of all documents confirming this change;

– indicate the place of birth and current place of residence (place of temporary registration of a foreigner);

– indicate the purpose for which the certificate is being issued and other personal information.

Validity period of a certificate of no criminal record in Ukraine
