Insurance is required for:
– Tourists. Citizens of Ukraine who are planning a short-term visit to Estonia for up to 90 days. In this case, the policy must cover emergency medical care, as well as the cost of return to Ukraine in the event of serious illness or accident.
– Students. When entering Estonia for study purposes, students must have medical insurance that covers the cost of medical services in Estonia. In addition, it is worth noting that some universities may require additional insurance for visa processing.

Do you need insurance to enter Estonia without a visa?
When Ukrainian citizens travel to Schengen countries, including Estonia, without a visa, medical insurance is not mandatory for short-term trips. However, even in such cases, insurance is highly recommended. Insurance will help cover the cost of medical services in case of illness or injury while in another country. Without a policy, you will have to pay for medical expenses out of your own pocket, which can be a significant financial burden, especially if you need hospitalisation or emergency medical care.
It is also worth noting that although the Schengen countries do not require compulsory insurance for Ukrainian citizens, some countries may refuse you entry without medical insurance. Therefore, even when travelling without a visa, it is recommended that you take out insurance to avoid possible problems at customs or in case of unforeseen circumstances during your stay in another country.
