Slovakia-Ukraine Border Crossing Points
There are six checkpoints on the border between Ukraine and Slovakia, including two for cars, two for trains, and one for pedestrians:
1. Maly Berezny – Ublia.
Type of connection: car/pedestrian/cyclist.
Hours: 24 hours a day.
2. Uzhhorod – Vyšné Nemecké.
Type of connection: road.
Hours of operation: 24 hours a day.
3. Mali Selmentsi – Velke Slemence.
Type of connection: pedestrian/cyclists.
Hours of operation: from 09:00 to 21:00 Kyiv time.
4. Pavlove – Matovce.
Type of connection: railway.
Operating hours: 24 hours a day.
5. Chop (Strazh) – Cierna nad Tisou.
Type of connection: railway.
Operating hours: 24 hours a day.

Rules for crossing the border between Ukraine and Slovakia
How to enter Ukraine via Slovakia?
Foreigners and stateless persons must comply with certain customs and border requirements. To enter Ukraine in 2025, you must have the following documents:
– Valid foreign passport. Citizens of Turkey and Georgia can enter with ID cards.
– Visa, if required by law or intergovernmental agreements.
– Documents confirming the purpose of the trip – invitation, accommodation booking, family ties certificates, etc.
– Proof of financial solvency – cash, bank statements, payment cards or a letter of guarantee from the host party.
– Green card, if you are entering the country in your own car.
– Voluntary car insurance — Mini CASCO. Recommended for additional protection on Ukrainian roads. You can take out insurance on the Visit Ukraine portal at the link.
– Medical insurance taken out with a company recognised in Ukraine or with an insurer with partnership agreements in Ukraine.
For safety reasons and due to the state of war, it is recommended to take out medical insurance covering military risks. This will ensure access to assistance in case of emergencies. The policy can be taken out online through the Visit Ukraine service.
How to leave Ukraine for Slovakia?
Ukrainian citizens planning to travel to Slovakia in 2025 will need the following documents:
– Internal and foreign passports.
If travelling by car, you will also need:
– International driving licence.
– Vehicle registration certificate with information in Cyrillic and Latin.
– Sticker indicating the country (UA).
– State registration number.
