Ukraine's diplomatic missions abroad can use the State Register of Civil Status Acts. This allows Ukrainians to enter into or dissolve marriages abroad. 

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has determined the list of foreign diplomatic missions that can make changes to the State Register of Civil Status Acts. Among them:

• Embassies of Ukraine in Georgia, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Poland, the Republic of Turkey, and the Federal Republic of Germany; 

• Consulates General of Ukraine in Krakow, Lublin, Wroclaw of the Republic of Poland, Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Frankfurt am Main, Munich of the Federal Republic of Germany and Istanbul of the Republic of Turkey; 

• Consulates of Ukraine in Gdansk of the Republic of Poland and in Antalya of the Republic of Turkey.

It is expected that the list of foreign diplomatic missions where civil registration will be possible will be expanded. 

Submit an application for marriage online. How is it possible?

From now on, Ukrainians will be able to apply for state registration of marriage on the state portal Diia and immediately choose the place, time, format and hall where the ceremony will take place.

To do this, you need to:

• log in to the portal and go to the Family section;

• select the "Marriage Application" service, fill out the application and choose the time and place of registration;

• pay the administrative fee and sign the application with an electronic signature.

Please note! Your partner will also receive a link to the application via email. He or she must log in to the portal, follow the link from the email, and sign the application with an electronic signature.

Then the registry office will send a response and details of the ceremony by e-mail. All you have to do is show up at the department on the day of the wedding.

As a reminder, Ukrainians have recently been able to apply for passport documents in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, where separate subdivisions of the State Enterprise "Document" have started working. Details are available here.
