Radon Lake, Mygiya, Mykolaiv Region
Radon Lake in the village of Mygiya is known for its unusual blue color and rocky surroundings. It was formed on the site of a former granite quarry: water quickly filled the pit, leaving part of the equipment underwater. The name “Radon” comes from the radon impurities in the water, although the exact concentration is unknown, so swimming here remains a question of safety. The shores of the lake are rocky and narrow, there are practically no beaches, but tourists often pitch tents right above the cliff.
Interesting facts:
- The depth of the lake varies from 20 to 40 meters.
- The shores are equipped with the fastest trolley descent in Ukraine: length – 450 m, height – 72 m, speed – up to 126 km/h.
- Nearby – Southern Bug and popular rafting routes and excursions to the Aktiv and Arbuzyn canyons.
Synevyr, Transcarpathia
Synevyr – known as the “Sea Eye of the Carpathians”, located at an altitude of 989 m. The lake is surrounded by dense Carpathian forests, which creates a feeling of solitude. The picturesque island in the middle makes Synevyr popular for walks and photo shoots. Swimming is prohibited here, but you can rent boats. The territory has eco-trails and guest huts for a comfortable stay.
Interesting facts:
- Depth – 22 m, crystal clear water.
- Legends of love and mystical stories add a special atmosphere to the place.

The average depth of the reservoir is about 20 meters, the maximum depth is up to 40 meters. The bottom and shores are covered with sand, but the slopes are quite steep, so the lake is less suitable for family vacations with young children. Thanks to the remains of minerals at the bottom, the water acquires a special blue hue. The lake is surrounded by a dense pine forest, which creates an atmosphere of seclusion and resembles the picturesque beaches of the Maldives.

Rocky shores of different heights and dense coniferous forests around give the lake the appearance of a Norwegian fjord.
The water is so clear that the bottom and fallen trees are visible. Access to the lake is possible through several equipped places, but vacationers often choose to jump from rocky shores up to 20 meters high. For an overnight stay, you can pitch a tent right on the shore among the pine forest or use the services of a nearby hotel.
