The Government of Ukraine has amended the Procedure for the implementation of a pilot project on automatic verification and verification of information on conscripts, persons liable for military service and reservists. Thus, the procedure for issuing passport documents outside the country has been simplified for Ukrainians liable for military service.

Passport application abroad: new rules

From now on, men aged 18 to 60 do not need to physically present a military registration document to apply for a Ukrainian passport or a passport for travelling abroad.

At the same time, employees of foreign offices of the State Enterprise Document will check the status of military registration in the register.

In addition, there is no longer a need to undergo a medical examination. After that, the Ukrainian will receive the ordered document within the specified timeframe.

What if there is no information about a person in the register?

If there is no data in the register, it will be entered automatically. Men will be registered with the formation of a military registration document in electronic form, without the need to undergo a medical examination.

‘Thanks to these changes, thousands of citizens who are forced to stay abroad will be able to issue or renew their passports. This, in turn, simplifies access to legal stay outside the country, employment, education, public services and maintaining contact with Ukraine,’ said Oleksiy Chernyshov, Minister of National Unity of Ukraine.

Where to go abroad to get a passport?

When travelling abroad, Ukrainians can apply for a passport in two ways:

1. Through a diplomatic mission of Ukraine.

2. Through the Passport Service centres in Warsaw, Krakow, Gdansk, Wroclaw, Prague, Bratislava, Berlin, Cologne, Munich, Valencia, Madrid, Barcelona, Milan and Istanbul.
