Where can Ukrainian refugees receive assistance in 2025?

Great Britain

In the UK, Ukrainian refugees receive both one-time and monthly assistance through several social welfare programs.

• One-time payment:

200 pounds per person.

• Monthly support (Universal Credit):

Adults - up to £480 per month.

For one child - 92 pounds per month.

For each additional child - £76 per month.

Refugees must have a confirmed status under protection programs.

Denmark

Denmark also supports refugees from Ukraine, but the amount of assistance depends on several factors: refugee status, family size and the municipality in which they live.

• Amount of assistance:

Depends on the place of residence and the presence of children.

You need to contact the Danish Immigration Service or local municipal authorities.

Denmark provides assistance in the form of covering basic needs, as well as supporting the integration process of refugees.

Germany

Germany provides financial support to Ukrainians in the form of monthly social assistance.

• Amounts of payments:

Single adults - 502 euros per month.

Married couples - 451 euros for each.

Children under 6 years old - 318 euros.

Children 6-14 years old - 348 euros.

Children aged 14-18 years - 420 euros.

To receive assistance, you must have temporary protection status.

France

In France, Ukrainians can receive financial assistance through the Asile system.

• Single refugees receive about 426 euros per month.

• Assistance for renting a house or settling in special centers.

Italy

Italy offers short-term assistance.

Refugees can receive a one-time payment of 300 euros per person, as well as an additional 150 euros per child.

Czech Republic

In the Czech Republic, Ukrainians receive financial assistance in the first few months of their stay.

• 5000 Czech crowns (about 200 euros) per person per month for six months.

Spain

Spain provides Ukrainians with access to the country's social system, including housing allowance, health insurance, and labor market integration.

Cash benefits are provided through social assistance programs, with amounts varying by region.

Austria

Austria maintains a system of assistance for Ukrainians, but the amounts are relatively small.

• Financial assistance:

“Pocket” money - 40 euros per month.

150 euros per year for the purchase of clothing.

Up to 200 euros per child per year for school supplies.

• Housing support:

If refugees rent housing, they can receive a subsidy:

165 euros per month for one person.

330 euros for a family of two.

• Basic assistance:

Adults - up to 260 euros per month.

Minors - up to 145 euros per month.

To apply for assistance, you need to contact the local district state administration.

Bulgaria

Bulgaria offers Ukrainian refugees a Multipurpose Cash Assistance (MPCA) program and winterization support.

• One-time assistance:

900 Bulgarian leva (equivalent to 460 euros). The money is provided to vulnerable categories for basic needs and winterization.

The application is coordinated through the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

Estonia

Ukrainians in Estonia can receive a one-time compensation for rent.

• Amount of assistance:

Up to 1200 euros one-time for housing rent.

• Eligibility requirements:

The application must be submitted within the first 6 months after receiving the first residence permit in Estonia.

Latvia

In Latvia, Ukrainians have access to both one-time and monthly financial assistance.

One-time financial assistance

• Amounts in 2025:

EUR 343 per adult.

240 euros per child.

• Eligibility requirements:

You need to obtain a certificate of crisis situation from the municipal social service.

Monthly allowance.

• 109 euros for the first person.

• 76 euros for each subsequent family member.

Lithuania

Lithuania provides targeted one-time financial assistance for vulnerable categories of refugees.

• Amount of assistance:

176 euros in a one-time payment for basic expenses.

• Who is eligible:

Families with three or more children under the age of 18.

Single parents or guardians with children.

Families with children with disabilities.

Persons with disabilities.

Pregnant women.

Elderly people aged 60+ years.

• Conditions for obtaining a residence permit:

Registration with the Department of Migration.

Obtaining a temporary residence permit.

Lithuania offers financial assistance to the most vulnerable groups of the population, focusing on meeting their basic needs.

Netherlands

Ukrainians living in state-provided housing in the Netherlands can receive monthly financial support.

• The amount of payments:

205 euros for food.

55 euros for personal needs.

Total amount: 260 euros per month.

• Conditions:

If the center provides three meals a day, only 55 euros are paid.

Payments are stopped after finding a job or housing.

The Netherlands provides for the basic needs of Ukrainians in shelters while maintaining support for the unemployed.

Germany

In Germany, financial assistance for refugees depends on the level of income, employment and family composition.

• Payment amounts:

Assistance is provided depending on the level of need, based on the subsistence level. In 2025, the amount of payments is planned to be reduced, but the assistance will still be available.

• Social support:

Refugees with children can receive additional child support through family social protection programs.

To receive payments, you need to have an official temporary protection status or refugee status.

Poland

In Poland, assistance is mainly aimed at families with children.

The program “Active in the Nursery” (Aktywnie w żłobku ) is for mothers with young children.

Conditions of participation:

The mother must be employed.

She and her child must have had PESEL UKR status for the last 365 days.

Program “Family 800”

Payments for parents of children under 18 years of age if the child is studying at a Polish school.

The amount is 800 PLN (approximately 180 EUR) per month per child.

“Good Start” program

A one-time payment for preparing children for school.

The amount is 300 PLN (approximately 65 EUR) per child.

Czech Republic

In the Czech Republic, financial assistance depends on the length of stay, family composition and financial situation.

The first 150 days of stay:

Refugees receive humanitarian assistance in the amount of the subsistence minimum (approximately 160 euros).

After 150 days:

The amount is reduced to the minimum necessary for subsistence (approximately 120 euros).

Vulnerable categories of the population, such as large families, the elderly or persons with disabilities, may receive additional assistance.

Norway

Norway provides monthly financial assistance for refugees living in reception centers

520 euros for refugees registered in the centers.

The country also supports both those who integrate into the country and those who wish to return home.

One-time payment for returning to Ukraine:

1,500 euros for those who decide to voluntarily return to their homeland.

Sweden

Sweden offers two types of financial assistance for Ukrainian refugees:

1. Daily allowance from the Swedish Migration Agency:

SEK 71 per day (approximately 7 euros).

2. Assistance through the social insurance system:

SEK 308 per day (approximately 30 euros) for those who participate in social programs.

Sweden supports the basic needs of refugees through a system of daily allowances, but more generous payments are available for those who actively integrate into society.

Switzerland

Switzerland provides Ukrainian refugees with basic financial assistance to meet their basic needs.

• Payment terms:

The assistance is paid until the person finds a job.

The amount of payments depends on the canton where the refugee resides and may include support to cover housing, food and basic services.

Switzerland also offers integration programs for those who plan to stay longer, including language courses and vocational training.

Romania

Romania has financial support programs for refugees from Ukraine aimed at meeting their basic needs.

• Amount of payments:

750 lei (approximately 150 euros) per month for individuals.

2,000 lei (approximately 402 euros) for families.

600 lei (approximately 120 euros) additionally for food.

• Conditions of receipt:

The assistance is provided for a period of 4 months.

Adults must be registered as unemployed or employed.

Children must attend school.

Moldova

Moldova was one of the first countries to support refugees from Ukraine and continues to pay assistance in 2025.

• The amount of payments:

2,200 Moldovan lei (approximately 114 euros) per month.

• Conditions:

Newly arrived refugees receive a two-month initial assistance, the amount of which depends on the degree of vulnerability.

After that, refugees have to formalize their legal status, for example:

Temporary protection.

Refugee status.

Humanitarian protection.

Temporary or permanent residence permit.

Portugal

Portugal has a social protection program for refugees from Ukraine called “Income from Social Integration (RSI)”.

• Amount of assistance:

Less than 200 euros per month for adults.

100 euros per month for children.

• Eligibility requirements:

The program is available only to persons who have no other sources of income.

Portugal also actively promotes the integration of refugees through language courses, access to health insurance and employment.

Slovakia

In Slovakia, the main financial assistance for Ukrainian refugees is coordinated by international organizations such as UNHCR and UNICEF.

• Vulnerable categories:

Elderly people.

People with disabilities or serious illnesses.

Large families.

Single parents.

• Conditions:

Assistance is available to those who do not have a permanent source of income or earn less than the subsistence level.

Depending on the composition of the family, the amount of payments may vary.

Slovakia also offers educational programs and free access to medical services for Ukrainian refugees.

USA

In the United States, Ukrainians can receive assistance through several government programs.

• The main programs are:

1. TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families): support for low-income families.

2. SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program): financial assistance for food.

3. Medicaid: access to health insurance.

• The amount of payments:

Depends on the state, family composition and income level.

Payments range from $300 to $800 per month.

To participate in the programs, you must have a confirmed temporary protection status or an appropriate visa.

Ireland

In Ireland, Ukrainians have access to weekly payments, and people with disabilities receive additional social support.

• Amount of payments:

38.80 euros per week for an adult.

29.80 euros per week for a child.

People with disabilities receive 220 euros per week (Disability Allowance).

• Special features:

Ireland actively supports refugees through integration programs, providing access to medical services and educational opportunities.

France

France offers Ukrainian refugees daily payments, the amount of which increases in proportion to the number of family members.

• The amount of payments:

6.8 euros per day for one person.

For those who do not have social housing, payments increase by 7.4 euros per day.

• Examples of amounts per month:

One person: 426 euros per month.

A mother with a child: 528 euros per month.

• Eligibility requirements:

To receive assistance, you must have a confirmed refugee or temporary protection status.

Canada

In Canada, there is currently no one-time assistance for Ukrainians, but the provinces provide social support in other ways.

• Features:

Assistance depends on the province where refugees live.

It has become more difficult to obtain refugee status in Canada, and new applications are accepted very selectively.

• Assistance programs:

Ukrainians with temporary protection can access the healthcare system, educational programs and some local social benefits.
