In May 2025, an international campaign called ‘Ukraine is the Shield of the EU. Strengthen it with Truth’ will take place in major European cities. The campaign aims to counter russian propaganda and draw Europeans' attention to Ukraine's struggle for democratic values. This was reported by the Rubryka portal, citing the Ukrainian Leadership Academy, the initiator of the event.

What is the essence of the campaign?

Against the backdrop of ongoing russian aggression, Ukraine continues to defend not only its own territory but also acts as a shield for the whole of Europe, protecting freedom, truth and the international order. However, the Kremlin is actively waging an information war, spreading fake news, manipulation and misrepresentation of facts in order to sow mistrust and discord between EU countries and Ukraine.

The project by the Ukrainian Leadership Academy aims to strengthen Europe's information resilience, demonstrate the unity and engagement of young people, and remind everyone that truth is also a weapon.

What will happen?

As part of the campaign, public events are planned in various European cities, including:

▪️ Installation ‘Shield of the EU’ — a symbolic art composition reflecting Ukraine's resilience and solidarity with the EU;

▪️ Online quiz — an interactive game to assess participants' awareness of information hygiene and the level of influence of disinformation;

▪️ Live communication with Academy participants — young Ukrainian leaders representing a new generation shaping the future of Europe.

Where and when will the events take place?

The volunteer mission will cover the following cities and dates:

📍 3 May — Wrocław (Wrocławski Rynek), Vienna (Herbert-von-Karajan-Platz), from 17:00 to 19:00

📍 4 May — Brussels (Grand Place), 14:00–16:00

📍 5 May — Brussels (Pl. de l'Albertin), 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

📍 6 May — Mechelen (Grote Markt), 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

📍 7 May — Strasbourg (Pl. du Château), Amsterdam (Dam Square), 6:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m.

📍 8 May — Berlin (Pariser Platz), 6:30 p.m.–8:00 p.m.; Vienna (repeat), Munich (Marienplatz), 6:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m.

📍 9 May — Prague (Staroměstské náměstí), 18:00–20:00

These events are not just solidarity actions. They send a clear message: truth matters, democracy needs to be protected, and European unity is our common choice. They also aim to remind EU citizens of the need to continue supporting Ukraine.
