Despite the gloomy spring weather, Lviv is already blooming with bright colors - the first Dutch tulips have appeared in the city center. This was reported by the press service of the Lviv City Council.

Spring in Lviv: the first tulips from the Netherlands bloomed in the city center

According to the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Lviv City Council, Greig tulips, the Park Tiger variety, were the first to bloom in the city. These graceful flowers, which are among the first to bloom, were presented to Lviv by the Netherlands back in the fall. The tulips of this variety will delight the citizens and guests for up to three weeks.

However, this is only the beginning of the flower season. Soon, lilac, cream, crimson, red, peach and yellow tulips will bloom in flower beds and city parks. In addition to the classic varieties, citizens will also be able to enjoy peony-shaped buds.

In the fall of 2023, Lviv received 117 thousand tulip bulbs of seven different varieties. These flowers were planted not only within the Lviv community but also in the cities of the agglomeration: Zhovkva, Bibrka, Novyi Yarychiv, Kulykiv, Davydiv, Zhovtantsi, Horodok, Pustomyty, and Velykyi Liuben. Thus, the spring beauty will become accessible to even more people.

To make it easier to find blooming locations, Lviv has created a special flower map of the city that will be launched in April. With this tool, residents will be able to plan walks and admire tulips at the best time of their flowering.

The tradition of giving Dutch tulips to Lviv has been going on for several years. In 2022, the city received 125 thousand bulbs, and in 2023 - 98,400 tulips and muscari. This floral gift was made possible by the chairman of the Dutch-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce, Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Amsterdam Emile de Sevren Jacket and Dutch farmers. The Lviv City Council expressed gratitude for this initiative, which not only beautifies the city but also symbolizes support for the Ukrainian people.

Thus, spring in Lviv has started brightly, and in the coming weeks the city will turn into a real flower gallery. Don't miss the opportunity to enjoy this spectacle!
