Neue Prüfungsregeln in Polen für ukrainische Studenten: Was sollten Sie wissen?
Die Regeln für die Prüfungen der achten Klasse haben sich für ukrainische Studenten in Polen leicht geändert. Jetzt haben die Schüler mehr Zeit, um Aufgaben in jedem Fach zu erledigen.
Starting in 2025, the rules for the eighth-grade exam (egzamin ósmoklasisty) will change in Poland. The innovations will affect both the duration of testing in each subject and special conditions for Ukrainian students. Below, we will tell you what the changes are, when the exam will be held this year, and where you can find detailed information.
What is the eighth grade exam?
In Poland, primary school (szkoła podstawowa) lasts eight years. At the end of it, pupils take the eighth grade exam, the results of which affect their admission to secondary schools.
The exam includes three compulsory subjects:
1. Polish language,
2. Mathematics,
3. a foreign language (English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, German, French, Spanish, Italian or Russian).

What changes will be introduced in 2025?
According to the decree of the Minister of Education of Poland dated 30 January 2023, the time for completing tasks in each subject will be increased by approximately 25%. From 2025, the exam duration will be as follows:
For Polish students:
🔻 Polish language - 150 minutes
🔻 Mathematics - 125 minutes
🔻 Foreign language - 110 minutes
For foreign children (including Ukrainians who have been studying in Poland for a long time)
🔻 Polish language - 225 minutes
🔻 Mathematics - 190 minutes
🔻 Foreign language - 110 minutes
For children from Ukraine who arrived in Poland after 24 February 2022:
🔻 Polish language - 265 minutes
🔻 Mathematics - 125 minutes
🔻 Foreign language - 110 minutes
Polish language exam for Ukrainians - compulsory or not?
Starting from 2025, Ukrainian students studying in Poland will have to take exams in mathematics and a foreign language.
At the same time, the Polish language exam will be voluntary (at the student's request).
