The eCheckpoint at the Chop-Záhony border crossing point on the Ukrainian-Hungarian border has launched an eCheckpoint. Now, passenger carriers will cross the border at a certain time, said Andriy Demchenko, a representative of the State Border Guard Service.

When crossing the border by vehicle, the driver must have a valid international insurance policy (Green Card). This document is mandatory and if you do not have it, you will be turned away at the border control. Therefore, before travelling to another country, do not forget to apply for a Green Card.

What is known about the innovation?

Demchenko noted that the eCheckpoint for carriers and buses has long been operating at 29 checkpoints, including Chop-Zahony. However, there was no slotting there until now.

Until now, all carriers crossing this checkpoint have simply registered in the electronic queue to proceed through the area. Now an electronic queue has been introduced.

‘This is to ensure that each carrier has a specific time to arrive at the border, arrive at the checkpoint, and actually go through the clearance. This makes it impossible for buses to accumulate, which led to queues and longer border crossing times,’ he said.

What will it do?

According to Demchenko, the concept of queues for buses will be eliminated at the sections where slotting is implemented.

‘Of course, this will allow citizens travelling by these types of transport to cross the border faster,’ he added.

It is worth noting that all international carriers of passengers crossing the border must register for a specific time.

By the way, starting from 1 January 2025, a printed copy of the Green Card is no longer required to cross the border. Now all countries accept an electronic policy. You can buy this type of insurance on the Visit Ukraine portal. The entire purchase process will take no more than 10 minutes.
