Die Subvention für Mietwohnungen für IDPs beginnt am 29. Januar: Wer kann profitieren?

Ukrainians who were forced to leave their homes and move to other regions after the outbreak of the full-scale war are still facing housing problems. In this regard, starting from 29 January, internally displaced persons (IDPs) can apply for a new rental subsidy. With reference to the Ministry of Social Policy, we tell you who can apply and how to apply.

The rental subsidy will be granted similarly to the traditional housing subsidy and will be available to families in the greatest need of financial assistance.

The Minister of Social Policy Oksana Zholnovych noted that the new mechanism will take into account the financial capacity of the family as well as regional differences in rental prices. This will not only help to support IDPs financially, but also provide legal protection through the conclusion of official lease agreements.

Who can apply for a subsidy?

Yes, the subsidy is available to citizens who:

- have left the occupied territories or combat zones and do not have their own housing in safe regions;

- need to rent housing but cannot afford to pay the rent on their own;

- spend a significant part of their income on rent.

The rental subsidy will be granted provided that the tenant and the landlord are not related, the tenant does not receive any other assistance from the state for IDPs' accommodation, and the landlord does not participate in the Shelter programme. IDPs can receive both rent and utility subsidies.

How to apply for a subsidy?

There are two ways to apply for a subsidy:

▪️ Offline - at a PFU service centre or administrative service centre.

▪️ Online - through the PFU e-services portal or mobile application (with an electronic signature).

Required documents

1. employment contract (in the prescribed form);

2. application (in the prescribed form);

3. if necessary, copies of documents confirming the powers of the legal representative or other documents confirming special circumstances.

The documents are submitted by both the owner of the property and the IDP. If the owner resides in another region or abroad, you can submit documents electronically.
