The most popular solutions are Green Card and Mini Hull insurance. Let's find out what their differences are, when they are needed and where you can quickly take out these policies.

First of all, we would like to note that, according to Ukrainian law, foreign citizens can drive cars with foreign licence plates in Ukraine for up to one year. But if you plan to stay in Ukraine for longer than two months, you need to contact a service centre of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for temporary registration of the car. After the one-year period expires, the car with foreign number plates must leave Ukraine. At the same time, your car must be insured during its stay in the country.

Green card for entering Ukraine

‘The Green Card is a compulsory third-party liability insurance for cars with foreign registration entering the territory of Ukraine. This policy covers damage caused to third parties as a result of a road traffic accident.

1 Without it, entry to the territory of Ukraine is impossible.

2. The policy protects only third parties, covering the cost of repairing their cars or compensation for health damage.

3. The Green Card is issued for different periods - from 15 days to 1 year.

It should be noted that the Green Card is mandatory for cars with foreign registration not only in Ukraine but also in many European countries.

Mini HULL: insurance with a wide range of risks

Mini Hull insurance is a voluntary insurance that protects a car from certain risks that are not available in basic compulsory insurance.

Another important advantage of Mini Hull insurance is that the insurance provides coverage for military risks, which is very important for Ukraine.

What does Mini HULL cover?

On the Visit Ukraine website, you can buy Mini Hull insurance with different coverages. Currently, three packages are available to customers:

● Economy: compensation for losses in the event of an accident involving another car;

● Basic: coverage of losses in the event of an accident with another vehicle and indemnity in the event of complete destruction of the car due to natural disasters;

● Maximum + war risks: includes coverage of the Economy and Basic packages and additionally includes protection against passive war risks and coverage of tow truck services.

You can buy Mini Hull insurance online on Visit Ukraine for a period of 1 month to 1 year.

What is the difference between Mini HULL and Green Card?

These policies have different areas of risk compensation: Mini HULL protects your car directly, unlike the Green Card, which is aimed at compensating third parties.

If you have a car with a foreign registration, we recommend purchasing Mini HULL for broader protection against losses.

Compulsory insurance for cars with Ukrainian registration

For cars with Ukrainian registration, a motor third party liability (MTPL) policy is mandatory. It protects third parties in the event of an accident, similar to the Green Card for foreign cars. However, for additional car protection, it is recommended to consider Mini-CASCO.
