Soon, Ukraine, like other countries around the world, will be celebrating the new year, 2025. Last year, no festive events were held in the Ukrainian capital due to the war. The Kyiv City State Administration told RBC-Ukraine whether the New Year's locations will work this year.

New Year's Eve 2025 in Kyiv 

Like last year, the Kyiv Department of Culture does not plan to hold traditional New Year and Christmas mass events in open locations in the city.

This includes cultural and artistic projects, concerts, and festivities.

At the same time, the city authorities emphasise that festive themed events are planned to be held in municipal cultural institutions - theatres, museums, libraries, etc. - that are subordinated to the Department of Culture, in accordance with their work plans, in compliance with the requirements and restrictions in force during martial law and taking into account the current security situation.

For security reasons, the generalised programme of Christmas and New Year's events will not be made public and will not be announced in the media and social media.

Will the Main Christmas Tree be erected in Kyiv?

The situation with the dismantling of the Christmas tree in the capital, which usually has the status of the country's main Christmas tree, is also unclear.

According to the local authorities, the issue of dismantling the Main Christmas Tree will be decided at the end of November, taking into account all current circumstances.

It is worth noting that earlier the media reported, citing sources, that the organisers had already created a concept for the country's main Christmas tree and submitted it to the Kyiv City State Administration for approval.

According to preliminary information, this year's Christmas tree will be white and will have blue light garlands. It will also be possible to donate to the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the festive location. No further details of the concept were disclosed.
